In my 26 years of active duty I could see how easy it would be for a few dedicated killers to breach a military base and wreak havoc at a school of on post housing area. I have no doubt they would be killed but they could do a lot of damage prior to that.

It really wouldn't be that hard to penetrate into a military base. There isn't usually a lot of armed security around except maybe at the gates and perhaps a few armed rover vehicles. Nobody else is armed. A well armed group of jihadists with a plan could cause real havoc and a lot of casualties in a real hurry. Nobody except a few security guards are armed. Everybody else are fish in a barrel.

On the other hand, if they got to the Commissary, they might get showered with cans of pork and beans and packages of bacon. That might deter them.

We don’t do social media for exactly this reason. Those who need to know do. Otherwise it is nobody’s business. Cannot understand why people are so willing to share personal details with acquaintances. No common sense IMHO.
