Very Funny! This is exactly the picture I had in my mind for this article!! ;-)
Uh....no thank you. :)
Exercise — even a brief walk — is good for you. But I was once told that weight loss happens mostly in the kitchen.
I used to do heavy duty aerobic exercises. Remember the Jane Fonda No Pain No Gain? Darn near killed me. Now I go mall walking when I can or walk around the house when the weather is cold. Some people might laugh at walking for exercise, but even the slightest effort at movement is good. And if you can’t move at all — no sweat. You can still lose weight and be healthy without exercise.
But if the parent doesn't hover, then the Social Serpents come along waving charges of child neglect and endangerment.
You can't win, and they set it up that way.
I suppose you could just 'wing it'.
It’s the excessive expectation that is the problem. I don’t expect to go under 200lbs anytime soon, not anymore. I just figured I won’t give myself as much of the artificial, processed stuff, get a walk on, or help my young children as I can, I don’t run anymore like I used to do with track & field. I walk or ride a bike, and try to do what I can. And yes, walking counts, and you don’t have as much impact wear and tear on your joints as if you were running. It’s not uncommon for a lot if hardcore runners to need knee surgery, as I came to find out. I also like the nearby store now, so I can just bike to it.
Actually, making food from ingredients saves money. It’s cheaper than fast food, which really adds up after a number of visits. That is one aspect that I wish the maker of Super Size Me emphasized more. People who buy fast food lose money if they do it frequently enough.
You seem to have a good grip on it. My normal weight is 145. Once My wrestling coach talked me into packing on pounds so I could take on a heavier opponent he knew I could beat. I did 12,000 calories a day for two weeks, barely made 165, and lost it in about a week. I am supposed to weigh 145, I could still wear the jeans I wore in high school if I still had them.
People tell me I’m lucky, mebbe so, but I will not suffer obesity.
