At the time, the corrupt MSM thought it could get away with not reporting on John Kerry and that no one would be the wiser. The Swift Boat Veterans merely revealed what was fact and that contributed to Kerry's loss. The corrupt MSM didn't count on the young alternate media to have such an impact. They have now wised up and worked even harder to shield Obama.

And it was the Clintons who perfected the "politics of personal destruction" in the modern era. They created the 'war room' and were celebrated for it and they even released an election documentary titled "The War Room".
