As mentioned in related threads, please consider the following. After starting the last three new legislative sessions by reading the Constitution out loud, House RINOs should know that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes. So if House RINOs really want to establish a simpler national healthcare program then they must do the following.

House RINOs must rally Congress to propose a healthcare amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify the House’s amendment then Congress will have the constitutional authority that it needs to establish an intrastate healthcare spending program and House RINOs will be heroes.

Take a look at Michigan’s new law. This is a right direction move.

Its not insurance but patients can pay doctors retainers and has access to routine services without the insurance.

Beware that such an amendment is not that of single payer. The states would have to pass the amendment to find out what’s in it. RINOs are not what they are because they want “socialism-lite” after all; it’s all about the kabuki theater.

How many RINOs will misinterpret that command to mean something else . . . ?

House Budget Chair Paul Ryan offered a comprehensive plan in March 2013 for FY 2014 that would have radically reformed Medicare and Medicaid and repealed the punitive elements of Obamacare. Of course it died in the Reid-stifled Senate.

If you didn't know about this, take a lesson on trusting the drive-by media's reporting on what republicans are and are not doing.

Off thread topic ....
I got interested in this when I saw “20 Seconds of Joy”. Karina Hollekim, despite crashing and shattering a leg in 25 places, with the doctors telling her she could never do it again, was still thinking about doing it one more time. The “high” of flying is addictive, I think and overrides the ‘self preservation’ switch. Then again, they all know the risks. I found the list when at the end of the documentary, somebody was mentioned in memory of and when I looked him up, he was a flyer who had died ... the list is morbidly fascinating reading.

The movie is worth seeing .... I saw it on TV.

“...to begin work...”??? - Obamacare has been an outrage for four years at least, and the GOP has been pounding their collective chests about getting rid of it - and now they’re starting to work on an alternative? - what losers.....

You do realize that Obamacare’s father, Romneycare was originally billed as the “conservative” answer to affordable healthcare. Gruber was one of Mitt’s Romneycare guys.

The Chamber of Commies, I mean GOP plan will be to require that every American subject purchase a 100K insurance policy that covers absolutely nothing. Failure to do so will result in a taxpayer funded payment to Aetna for 1 trillion dollars.

First, why are they just now beginning it? It should have been fully designed 8 years ago.

Second, any health care substitute bill needs to remove government from health care.

Will the "alternative"be a return to the unfettered free market model prior to WWII, before wage and price controls brought in an insurance middle man parasite, sucking out funds while pushing pencils and building skyscrapers to their industry?
How about some honest tort reform?
Or is that too much to ask of the legal profession dominated legislature?
