I don't trust a so-called conservative who hasn't been in DC. They have no voting record to prove they're really, really conservative. At the very least, a governor would have to be a very strong voice that has already influenced voting in DC to support constitutional conservative values and probably burned some bridges.

Scott Walker seems to be about cheap labor for his chamber of Commerce buddies, and anything else they want

Jeb will never be forgiven for letting Teri Schiavo starve to death.

Christies and overstuffed elitist buffoon and bully who doesn't seem really conservative.

Perry's better than them, but I'm not sure he can "herd cats" and get anything changed in DC.

Jindal is the only governor I can think of who seems really solid, both in his principles and his ability to both articulate them and convince other people about their merit.

I’m not ready to vote for anyone quite yet. No one should be! Yeesh!

Here in the frigid Upstate of South Carolina, only 25 minutes away from viewing the now-famous Peachoid (which has now been covered for reconstructive surgery), I totally ascribe to what you posted.

I do not dislike Scott Walker, I do not know much about him personally, although I like some of his stances. But neither do I particularly LIKE him. It's just way too early to know. Perhaps I'll be on board for him this same time next year...the election year. Perhaps I'll still support Cruz and/or Palin for the nomination.

Easier and cheaper than actually deporting all those illegals and, necessarily all those Moslems legal or illegal, is arresting and jailing anyone who hires an illegal in any capacity, rounding up and deporting representative groups in various locations around the country every couple of weeks and sequestering all their property and reachable funds in perpetual escrow. Self deportation will occur for perhaps a great majority of the rest. Then there is just some mopping up.
Eisenhower showed us a system that works. He rounded up bunches of illegals, then almost all Mexicans, and put them on ships depositing them well south of the border in Mexico. Many more left of their own volition.

I think he would do that. He danced ungracefully around the subject in that clip Levin played and even if he announced he was all for deportation he would likely do the fiat amnesty to “fix the problem humanely and once and for all.” The Fiat exists now and can’t be taken back short of the States stepping up and taking back control. The States should now be feverishly organizing their own individual State’s Guards. One or two states have that but I don’t think they train much. The National Guard is just that, National and Washington can take it over at will.

Are you aware that President Reagan supported, and signed an Amnesty bill that allowed all illegal immigrants in the country to become citizens?

Not one candidate will ever meet the criteria that would make most freepers happy.

Agreed. Scott Walker is far from being "the lesser evil." He will fight for his principles, which are by and large conservative. He was not afraid to take on the union goons in a fairly blue union state. He turned a billion dollar budget deficit into a surplus, proving his fiscal responsibility.

Most importantly, he can win an election against a strong media headwind.

Is he perfect? Nobody is. Would he make a good President? I believe he would. Will he be better than Shrilery or Fauxahontas? You betcha.

Agreed. Some would sacrifice the “very good” as they wait for unattainable perfection to magically appear. People searching for mates often do this and end up old and alone.

"Jeb will never be forgiven for letting Teri Schiavo starve to death."

I think you've got it backwards. Governor Bush did everything possible as governor to keep Terri alive, including provoking a near constitutional crisis in Florida over the issue.

I realize that's a catch-22. But these governors the elite are trying to sneak by us as conservatives can say what they want and there's nothing to back it up or disprove it.

Ted Cruz, Jeff Sessions and only a handful of others vote the way they campaign. Someone who's done that would be the most trustworthy nominee.

Did Jeb remove Teri from the hospital and put her in state custody? No.

The problem then was much smaller than it is now and not the big deal in the minds of the citizens that it necessarily is now. It was not the right thing to do but at least it wasn’t the existential problem that it is now. That also was not a subject of the campaigns. Were he running now he would surely oppose totally any amnesty. The Republic can’t stand it now and he was very much a Republican in the existential sense of the word. This time around he would have done with amnesty what he did with abortion back then. He was the last Principled Politician and he could separate his preferences from his principles and act according to his principles.

Reagan later admitted that Amnesty was the biggest mistake of his Presidency.

Under what authority could he have made such a move? Do you want the state to be able to move into a hospital and take control of one of your loved ones?
