Sarah Palin's "Pretty Good" Speech at Iowa Freedom Summit
Fairfax Free Citizen ^ | February 4, 2015 | Jonathon Moseley

Dear Reader: You need to make up your own mind—Sarah Palin gave a pretty, gosh-darn good speech in Iowa at the Freedom Summit on January 24. And yet Sarah Palin’s speech is being universally trashed by liberals, establishment cronies, and conservatives alike.

This is the end for Sarah Palin, pundits cry. Her presidential bid is over before it started. And not only that, but also Palin’s influence in the Republican Party has passed its “sell by” date.

But could this amazing consensus be driven by the fact that nearly all conservatives, establishment Republicans, and liberals are rooting for some other candidate who is a potential competitor to Palin in the 2016 elections? Every one of these critics has something to lose if Palin runs for President.

So this author finally decided I had to listen for myself. Sarah Palin was pretty darn good. Her speech was nothing like the universal condemnation is portraying.

Therefore, this author strongly suggests that each reader should make up his or her own mind. Listen to the speech for yourself. It is a short appetizer? No. It’s a five-course meal. But is it the worst speech in recent Republican history, which consigns Sarah Palin’s career to political doom? Make up your own mind. I don’t see that.

Friends who were there say Palin ran at least 10 minutes over her 20 minute allotment (each speaker got 20 minutes). Her tone was informal and humorous compared to the other speakers, and she did get caught off guard because she was expecting a teleprompter (it malfunctioned). Those things hardly make a disaster.

As a stand-alone talk, it certainly isn’t that bad.

The next speech she gives will be listened to by EVERY leftist and RAT, to confirm for themselves that she’s really ‘dead.’

Yes. I’ve been saying this on the threads about it since the speech.

It is a fine speech.

She has given better. It was a bit rushed at times.

But those are trivial issues I wouldn’t think twice about if it weren’t for the hysteria and derangement.

She began with the intro part, the first 20% or quarter of it talking about all the things she had done in Iowa in the past. Because it was a speech to and for Iowans.

That lead to her talking how from Iowa they drove up to a little town called Dixon Illinois, not too far away. Birthplace of Ronald Reagan.

Right there she set the parameters of where she was coming from. A politician/citizen respectful of, and in the mold of, Ronald Reagan.

I also noticed she did not have any uhs...and ums...and uh, uh, um...like a certain politician whose ticket beat hers in 2008.

this isn’t a game about styles of rhetoric, “electability”, etc. those are dimensions political game players are interested in, not me.

one simply imagines the candidate *as president*, the actions she might take amd the actions she would not take before deciding on her fitness for the office. her actions in the past speak to what her heart and soul are like. her heart and soul will determine if she will do the right things when our nation and people are really on the line.

when i think of sarah palin in office, executing the decisions of a president, i’m comfortable. that is why she is on my short list.

She just needs to declare, make it through the primaries and caucuses and win the nomination to go up against the dem in the general election of 16.

Sure, it won’t stop any slings and arrows, but either she’ll come out the winner or she won’t. She and we will know whether she’s accepted by the center right to far right or rejected.

I noticed that too, about Obama. When his teleprompter malfunctions all you hear is "uh, uh, uh,..." reminding me of a scared monkey. Lots of video clips abound of Obama stuttering when a speech isn't delivered to his face by teleprompter. Sarah did just fine with her speech. What her detractors don't like is the pitch of her voice and her exuberance delivering a speech, which is just fine because the content is meaningful and real.
