U.S., Germany, and France to Putin: The World Is Too Weak to Stop You
Commentary ^ | 02/05/2015 | Seth Mandel

So here’s Obama’s opinion: Ukraine should not get military aid from the West because even with American help, Russia would still mop the floor with them. And this, according to the Times, is what Obama thinks will intimidate Putin into signing a peace treaty. I’ll offer the president some free advice: telling Putin the world is too weak to stop him isn’t very intimidating.

Yet even if the West got Putin to sign on to a new agreement, nothing will have been accomplished. Putin has been violating the last ceasefire agreement, because there’s no one to enforce it. What Obama, Merkel, and Hollande are working for, then, is a non-solution–an agreement that would allow everyone involved to pretend it’s more than it is, and which would implicitly (if not explicitly) accept Putin’s previous land grabs in Ukraine while asking him nicely–on the honor system–to stop taking more land.

You can see what bothers the Ukrainians about this. They are at war, and high-level delegations from France, Germany, and the United States all flew in to tell them, personally, that they’re a lost cause. They either don’t realize it or don’t seem to care, but three major Western powers just went out of their way to ostentatiously humiliate their besieged ally on the world stage.

That sums it up rather beautifully.

Russia's President Putin is not too impressed. The West has signaled to him that Ukraine is a lost cause. Sure, they talk of more sanctions upon Russia and arming their ally but that's all it will remain: talk.

Moscow has sized up its opponents better than its opponents have sized up Russia. And its confident of holding the upper hand.

And in return for the West's obliging complaisance? The Kremlin will try not too gloat too much.

What jackass King Obama doesn't realize that Putin realizes that the armed forces of the United States would destroy him.

We don’t even have the whole horse, just the back end.

Haven’t you been opposing all of our actions and efforts to date, while you have been supporting Putin and the invasion?

If the West can't stand up for itself; why the heck would any one want to take its side?

Wimps.

Interesting that Putin's shirltess propaganda photos appeal to you.

To most of us they make him look pathetic.

Here is a man that looks uncomfortable on a horse, and a world leader that for some reason is shirtless, and if you notice, all of his horse pictures look like he is walking a horse that they gave him from the kiddie stable.

Here is a man that actually rode horses, or as Putin might call the one he borrowed from the petting zoo, horsees.

Huh? Who are we asking to take our side, Asia?

Haven’t you been opposing all of our (NATO’s) actions and efforts to date, while you have been supporting Putin and the invasion?

Obama plays golf.

Putin rides powerful animals.

The imagery tells who is a strong leader.

Putin is a skilled judo champion; Obama putts at the golf link.

We know who is the wimp in this relationship.

As Churchill said after the Munich agreement:

Britain and France had to choose between war and dishonour. They chose dishonour. They will have war.

I have been on the record as favoring a US military buildup.

I don’t see the Putin-bashing crowd on FR working to get Obama’s disastrous sequestration of our military reversed.

Like Tuco says to the Man With No Name: “If you must shoot, shoot! Don’t talk!”

Just like the North Korean leader, Putin is super human,

The man that we see with the semi nude photographs doing all the he-man activities, hunting shirtless, riding horses shirtless, fishing shirtless, yet without tanning, or sunburning, or seemingly any exposure to sunlight, he pulls trophy fish from streams without his clothes getting wet or dirty after a day of fishing and pulling in the photo op at the end of his line, and add the archaeological diving discoveries and bizarre (again North Korean) type super everything guy from science to wild animals, to sports, to exploring.

The 5’5” man is not all there mentally, but you sure fall for the fake masculine, shirtless world leader, posed photos campaign.

He’s angrier at Israel over a breach of protocol than he’s angrier at Russia for its land grabs.

That says a lot about how Obama weighs the importance of world issues.

If I were Putin, I wouldn’t be overly worried.

NATO?

NATO last active engagement was failing to win in Afghanistan.

The shirtless man you openly deride bested the Chechens, seized Crimea and has now gotten the West to offer him a capitulation.

No, I am not a fan of Putin’s adventures but one can’t help but admire his gustiness.

It’s not just that. They fall for all of the propaganda, like Russia is standing up against Islam when it is more Muslim than America. about 2 million in Moscow alone.

Or that they have a free economy when it is paper thin and dominated by Putin cronies with government favoritism.

Notice how the Kremlin dominates the media too.

How the mighty have fallen. It was once Margaret Thatcher, The Pope, Ronald Reagan, and Helmut Kohl stared down the thugs in Moscow and collapsed their communist tyranny.

Now, it’s Obama. We can’t do it all so don’t bother trying. Will Obama apply this logic to his poverty pimp programs? Are we going to stop giving welfare to single mothers of 15 babies because she is still poor? How about dumping billions and billions of aid to Africa. They are more backwards than ever.

And yes NATO, like I said, you are on record opposing all of our (NATO’s) actions and efforts to date, while you have been supporting Putin and the invasion.
