WASHINGTON — About 800,000 taxpayers who enrolled in insurance policies through HealthCare.gov received erroneous tax information from the government, and were urged on Friday to hold off on filing tax returns until the error could be corrected.

Democratic lawmakers pressed hard for the Obama administration to open a “special enrollment period” around tax filing season for Americans who only then realize they face penalties for failing to purchase health insurance last year. Andrew M. Slavitt, the No. 2 official at the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said the period would last from March 15 to April 30.

This can all be solved with a simple repeal.
They’ll probably each get an extra $250 credit, due to the inconvenience of having to wait or file amended returns. Then we will hear about how, if they just had more employees, these mistakes would be avoided.
Ya gotta ask, “Can this administration do or get anything right?”
“Officials said they did not know why the error had occurred.”

If you don’t know how it happened, how do you: know how/what to ‘fix’ and how do you know what the correct numbers are? The “low inoome” types really count on their refunds .... this is going to pi$$ them off majorly to have to wait for it and then perhaps get a smaller refund or not get one at all if they “guessed” at an income amount that was too low (trying to get a low premium).
Another big governmnent screw up. Smartest (luckiest?) thing the GOP ever did was to not cast a single vote for Obamacare.
So they did not know they might have to pay back subsidies?
California, which is running its own insurance market, just announced a similar problem affecting about 100,000 people in that state.
And if 800,000 citizens returned error filled tax filings???
The IRS is a horrible and disgucting bunch of power hungry thugs. When they screw up it’s your fault and have to fix it and they throw you in jail. When you screw up they throw you in jail.

“We are going to be gifted with a healthcare plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don’t which purportedly covers at least 10 million more people without adding a single new doctor but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it passed by a Congress that didn’t read it but exempted themselves FRom it and signed by a President who smokes with funding administered by a Treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes for which we will be taxed for four years before any benefit takes effect by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese and financed by a country that is broke.
