Four people, including French and Belgian nationals, have been shot dead in a restaurant on a busy street in the Malian capital Bamak. Witnesses said they saw four people running away and shouting "God is Great" in Arabic ("Allahu Akbar") as they fired machine guns and throw a grenade at La Terrace in Bamako's lively Hippodrome district following the attack shortly after midnight. "This is a terrorist attack, although we're waiting for clarification. Provisionally, there are four dead - one French national, a Belgian and two Malians," a policeman told AFP, adding that the dead included a police officer passing the scene at the time of the shooting.

Of course Islam had nothing to do with it...
if people would stop funding these places, you better believe the business communities would be up in arms and then the national police/guard would enforce laws against terrorism.....which of course is probably just shoot them..
Just some “folks” getting a little crazy.
I sometimes wonder if Westerners go to these places for the thrill of danger. A fair number of people are adrenaline junkies, so maybe this is a variation of it.
The photo, “A street in Bamako, Mali”, in the article may be real, but it is no more representative of Bamako than the old Pravda photos of bums sleeping on sidewalk grates were representative of US cities.
There are a lot of "Adventure Tourist" roaming through Africa, but most "Europeans" (whites) are there working (Western business representatives, development workers, missionaries) or are second, third, fourth generation citizens, descendants of colonial settlers, government workers and missionaries.
Africa is awash with Europeans who either work for NGOs (did you know that European “NGOs” are state-funded?) or who are “volunteering”.
Because colonialism. Or because the Crusades. Who knows?
Anyway, there are probably more whites running things than back in the day. What’s changed is that they have no military backup and they have to channel most of the loot into the pockets of local Big Men who provide them with a small degree of protection in exchange for their managerial and scientific talents.
Occasionally, though, the whites have an Authentic African Experience like these diners in Bamako did.
