Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), one of the leading conservatives in the U.S. Senate, is now set to coast to re-election, as any threat of any serious primary challenge from the GOP establishment has officially vanished.
On Wednesday, Lee announced his campaigns re-election committee with two co-chairs who would have previously either challenged Leeor been the two crucial backers of a Lee challengermeaning that Lee will now be able to focus his efforts on furthering constitutional conservatism on a national level rather than being stuck in a battle in Utah against the GOP establishment.
Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr., and Zions Bank CEO Scott Anderson will co-chair Lees re-election committee, Lee announced ahead of his formal re-election campaign announcement.
Others joining Lees re-election committee include: Ambassador John Price, Steve Price, Harris Simmons, Don Hartman, Paul Hutchinson, John Pestana, David Kirkham, Lew Cramer, Jonathan Coon, former Governor Norman Bangerter, and former Congressman Jim Hansen. This is a massive in-state power play by Lee, and a sign that his vision of grassroots conservatism is becoming the dominant force in Utah politicsrather than old guard Republicanism.

The GOPe have been spending money to try to oust Mike lee.
Mike Lee would make a great Supreme Court Justice after his senate career winds down.
Pleasantly surprised, and I give a rare kudo to Huntsman.
Why is Lee allowing Huntsman on his campaign?
Lee could have no campaign and win by 20 points.
White House ambitions?
I really like this guy.
I like watching Lee on the rare occasion I watch CSPAN-2. Clear intelligent speaker without any BS.
Can't believe it's almost been six years - Go Mike Lee !!!
Go Mike! We love him here in UT.
Huntsman? Interesting. I would not trust him, though.
“I see Mike Lee as a future majority leader.”
I hope you’re right, cotton. Lee would be excellent. (I know this solidification behind Lee must cause McConnell heartburn.)
