How about we just split the difference and move the clocks back 1/2 hr and leave it like that.

I agree but go the other way with this. Abolish standard time and keep daylight time as the standard.
Having it get dark at 7PM in the middle of summer sucks. Especially for working people who are just getting home at that time.
I spend enough time each year coming home in the dark. At least give a few months where I can sit out on the patio for an hour or so after work - grilling a steak with a beer in my hand.

I suspect that many bureaucrats in government get a chuckle out forcing Americans to perform a pointless task twice a year.
Helps remind the people who is really in charge.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)
To: Kaslin
People just like having something to complain about. The very same people will complain in the Fall when standard time returns.

The only real benefit is to be able to be outside longer with the warmer weather coming.

We should have nonlinear time that varies during the day and time of the year.

“People just like having something to complain about.”
And some people have legitimate complaints. This is one of them.

Isn’t it associated, supported, with all those that desire to play golf?
I vote to discontinue it forthwith.

Exactly. I don’t let it bother me. The same is with Mondays, it never bothered me either. It’s just a new day in the week for me

Senator Ed Markey hailed a 2008 Department of Energy report that put the impact of the clock change at "$498 million in electricity savings and reduced oil usage of 2.9 million barrels of oil."Markey is an idiot and there is far more proof of that than the DST issue.

The complaint is about having to shit time for any reason. There is no reason for it at all anymore. It hurts caregivers and the elderly. Watch the video I posted above.
