Vitter quotes '93 Reid Senate speech on ending birthright citizenship
Washington Examiner ^ | March 13, 2015 | Sean Higgins

Sen. David Vitter gave a speech on the Senate floor calling on Congress to end the practice of birthright citizenship, arguingthat "no sane country" would allow it for the children of illegal immigrants.

Vitter ended the remarks Thursday by saying he was actually quoting an old speech by Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who now opposes ending birthright citizenship. Reid had slammed Vitter over the issue the previous day.

"This is not my statement. Let me clarify: This is Sen. Harry Reid's statement on the floor of the U.S. Senate," said the Louisiana Republican, who is sponsoring an anti-birthright amendment to a human trafficking bill currently before the Senate.

Vitter is great.

"He’s a nasty piece of work, the junior senator from Louisiana. He doesn’t seem to like anybody. He loathes senior senator Mary Landrieu, he detests Governor Bobby Jindal, he despises the media. They all pretty much hate him back. "

They all pretty much hate him back.

Who cares about them. What do the folks who elected him think?

Give Harry a break. . .he's still having memory problems since he "fell" and hit his head.

Children born in America of non-American parents are not automatic citizens. That is a perversion by “progressives” (yes, they were known as “progressives” even back then) of the original law.

See my tagline.

We’re gonna give him the Governor’s Mansion in 2016, and send Piyush Jindal packing. Vitter is correct; Jindal is detestable. I hope the lies he has spread, via Hannity, et al, will see the light of day.

His bruise tells the tale...

His glasses did the most damage, IMO.

HERE'S ANOTHER BEAUT BY REID: Reid Supports Giving Illegal Aliens Tax Credits for Kids Not Even Living in US
Townhall.com | October 30, 2013 | Mike Shedlock / FR Posted by Kaslin

US Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas, wants to end the practice of giving illegal immigrants tax credits for kids, but U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev, won’t let the House-approved measure H.R. 556 through the Senate. "The System is Working Fine" says Senator Harry Reid, even though the Joint Committee on Taxation calculates that enactment of H.R. 556 would save taxpayers $24.4 billion over the next decade.

The House of Representatives repeatedly has passed an IRS bill that could save U.S. taxpayers up to $24.4 billion over the next 10 years — but Harry Reid’s Democratic Senate will not hear it.

The Refundable Child Tax Credit Eligibility Verification Reform Act, or H.R. 556, would require tax filers to provide Social Security numbers to claim child tax credits. Currently, the IRS allows undocumented residents to collect the $1,000 credits for dependents not even living in the country.

Watchdog reported that illegal immigrants received $4.2 billion from the tax agency in just one year. “My bill (targets) billions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse. Instead of hitting up taxpayers for even more taxes, Washington needs to go after these billions of dollars,” said Rep. Johnson, R-Texas.

Though the GOP-controlled House has passed Johnson’s measure three times, Senate Majority Leader Reid, D-Nev., refuses to allow the bill to come up for a vote in his chamber. “The IRS has been doling out the credit to tax filers claiming children who do not even live in the country,” Johnson charged.

For once I agree with Harry Reid. Damn shame the Republicans did not join Harry and end this “anchor baby” crap! Unfortunately, I think the time has passed and we will never get the support to end this. It will not be long before the new minority/majority Latino voters control congress and the White-house. The only positive thing will be watching the liberal blacks and whites have to deal with their new leaders that they created....

People in NV ought to rename their state after Harry Reid.

As long as the new leaders are socialists too, the American people will be happy.

The America you and I grew up in is gone. We’ll never get it back. This administration promised change and they delivered.

Have been reading about this.

Everyone should call the Senate in support of Vitter.

The fact that they are bringing it up is a cue to see if the support is there.

Every American should be against illegal aliens deciding who our future electorate will be: they know that by having kids on our soil there’s nothing we can do about it now.

Invasion by birth canal was what we called it 20 years ago. Nothing’s changed....other then it got worse.

Liberals really hate it when their own words get quoted back to them. After all, they have “evolved”, and all that was supposed to have disappeared down an Orwellian “memory hole”.

See, the records no long show it....
