Megyn Kelly presses Ted Cruz: Can you win?
Politico ^ | 03/25/2015 | Nick Gass

Ted Cruz is no Barack Obama, he wants Americans to know.

The Texas senator told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on Tuesday night that no one would mistake him for a Senate backbencher, like the current president.

Story Continued Below

Pressed by Kelly on what he had accomplished as a senator, Cruz said what Republicans have done “over and over again is stopping bad things from happening.”

“In my time in the Senate, there are a lot of faults I’ve had, but nobody would accuse me of being a backbencher,” Cruz said on “The Kelly File,” arguing that then-Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and the Democrats obstructed efforts for two years.

“What I’ve tried to do is lead on the great challenges of the day,” Cruz said, “whether it’s stopping Obamacare or stopping the out-of-control debt, or stopping executive amnesty or defending our constitutional rights or standing with Israel, or stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons.”

Rand Paul, who is expected to announce a presidential run of his own early next month, said Monday that he is a more electable candidate than his colleague from Texas.

“Ted Cruz is a conservative. But it also goes to winnability,” Paul said.

“I guess what makes us different is probably our approach as to how we would make the party bigger,” he said. “And I’m a big believer that you should stand on principle and be true to your principles, but I also think that we should take those principles and try to bring in new people with them.”

Responding to the comments, Cruz said he could build broad coalitions of support and win, as he had done in the past.

“We brought together conservatives and libertarians and evangelicals and women and young people and Hispanics and Reagan Democrats,” he said of his 2012 run for Senate.

Kelly is a bit too full of herself and needs to eventually recognize that she is just a talking head on TV. If she were a real reporter, did her own research, she might be easier to watch. A little more respect to her guests is in order.

Getting tired of the "if you are blond and female, you're hired network."

A kook Paul doubting about someone’s electability is downright funny, I don’t care who ya are.

I think she is pretty good both at law and journalism.

One good thing - Ted won't hide his grades and the accomplishments of his life because he actually did them and has nothing to hide.

Plus, his natural humility would prevent him from bragging.

Unlike the @$$ in the White House who brags about the things that he lies about doing and did not accomplish.

How refreshing is that?

I am REALLY getting pissed off at Fox News for this ...

It is nice they are not LIBERAL shills, but I don’t want them to be GOP SHILLS either

“whether it’s stopping Obamacare or stopping the out-of-control debt, or stopping executive amnesty or defending our constitutional rights or standing with Israel, or stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons.”

...this is what I’ve been yearning to hear for 7 years. Republicans say this but with words like “fine tuning”, “adjusting”, “re-working”. Rarely “stopping”.

Rand Paul, who is expected to announce a presidential run of his own early next month, said Monday that he is a more electable candidate than his colleague from Texas.

Why? Because he won a straw pole at CPAC?

We don’t watch Megan Kelly, or actually much of Fox News, any more. Her schtick of mugging for the camera begins to grate. And as do all Fox “hosts,” she talks too much. When we want to hear a guest’s views, they are bulldozed by the host’s comments, which we have heard for years.

TV in our house is relegated to watching football and a few travel shows, and our children and grandchildren rarely watch it at all.

I think she’s pretty good as well. I do, however, agree that she is full of herself. She’s going on the little snippets of humour where she is very animated, jokes, laughs and enjoys the attention. I do like the fact that after she asks a question, she usually gives her guests time to answer it, unlike O’Reilly.

The are you electable question is not the right question. The question is “who can get the message out in a clear way and cut through all the preconceived notions and not get hung up in the same old word traps?” We have not had someone strongly articulating the message for ages. If the message is conveyed then electability will follow. Courage, intelligence, conviction.....Cruz...check, check check.

“Ted Cruz is a conservative. But it also goes to winnability,” Paul said.

ron paul's offspring is quoting poll numbers in March of 2016 as a reason that he has "winnability".

Paul must think we don't know where he thinks the US Military should be used in foreign affairs.

Megyn Kelly is a mouthpiece for the gOpE. A shame. But this is establishment crap to suggest that Ted Cruz can't win. AND ... to put Rand Paul(?!) on to repeat the same canard?! Ron Paul and his son Rand are the true poster childs for "CAN'T WIN".

Rejoice conservatives:
In 1980, pundits stated continually that Reagan could not win and the polls for the most part were agreeing with the pundits as all the way up until election day Reagan lagged behind in most polling. In fact on election day itself in 1980 almost no one believed Ronald Reagan would beat Jimmy Carter and that Carter would be elected to a second term despite the shape of the economy and the general feeling that things were going the wrong direction in the country.

Ted’s getting beat up a little. Declaring first is a two edged sword. I’m sure this is not anything he didn’t expect. He weighed it out and decided to go first and get the press. My father was in politics and was a change agent. The press killed him, but he won re-election 5 times. Sometimes the people see through bad reporting.

It is a valid question since the echo chamber thinks you have to be a moderate to be elected. Fact is the evidence is pretty clear that moderates lose while solid Conservatives/liberals win.

Pray America is waking

“.......she might be easier to watch”......

So what’s not to like? Don’t sell Megyn Kelly short, there’s a lot to her you don’t see. On the other hand, you could always turn the volume down or switch to a liberal channel and watch those idiots.
