A "food source" sickened nearly 100 restaurant patrons in Philadelphia last month, but city and state health officials say Pennsylvania law bars them from disclosing what the food was or how it was contaminated.

Philly.com reported Friday ( http://bit.ly/1HQbZYs ) that dozens of lawyers and law students became sick after a Feb. 27 feast at Joy Tsin Lau in the city's Chinatown. Some said they were bedridden and others had to seek medical attention after becoming sick, but the owner said her restaurant didn't cause it.

Better a thousand get sick, and maybe scores die, than name a restaurant, or finger an illegal food handler!

Wow. The worst thing I can think of is to poison a bunch of lawyers and law students with food poisoning. That restaurant is toast.

Something tells me you shouldn’t poison a bunch of lawyers.

There was a pretty large outbreak of food poisoning in the Midwest a year or two ago. It was known to government early on it was from packaged prepared salads. The source was kept secret so that simple folk wouldn’t be afraid to eat their fresh veggies.

“....dozens of lawyers and law students became sick....”

I fail to see the issue.

Perhaps they had the Shakespeare sandwich.

“Something tells me you shouldn’t poison a bunch of lawyers.”

I see no problem here as long as none survive...

Or at least if you do, up the dosage to make sure there’s no survivors. ;-)

Is that the rationale?

Not officially, but that's the net effect.
