The president and CEO of The Associated Press called on Monday for changes to international laws that would make it a war crime to kill journalists or take them hostage.

Gary Pruitt said a new framework is needed to protect journalists as they cover conflicts in which they are increasingly seen as targets by extremist groups. […]

Last year was a particularly deadly year for the AP—four of the news cooperative’s journalists were killed on assignment. Globally, 61 journalists were killed in the line of duty in 2014, bringing to more than 1,000 the number who have died since 1992, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. […]

Pruitt said existing international laws should be updated to protect journalists. He proposed creating a new protocol to the Geneva Conventions to make the killing of a journalist a specific war crime. He also suggested adapting articles of the International Criminal Court, which deals with war crimes, to specifically cover journalists. …

Well, carrying water for the terrorists does not exempt you from being their victim. Never mind Pruitt’s solutions making things worse still.

61 journalists were killed in the line of duty

"Line of duty"? Hardly.

Try "In pursuit of a story"

The people we are currently fighting don’t give a fig about the concept of war crimes.

That’s what’s running the Dissociated Press. When they fall, they’ll surely become a byword, as the saying goes.

Journalists upset they aren't exempt from this particular aspect of their jobs.

Why not? They have completely abdicated their duty to research and truthfully spread all news of public interest without suffering any consequence whatsoever.

I don’t have a problem with this if they tell the truth. The minute they make it about an agenda, they are fair game because they are no longer reporters.

Funny how they went from “reporter” to “journalist”.

Kind of like how businesses shifted from “personnel department” to “human resources department” (the latter implies reinstitution of slavery, when scrutinized).

No, killing of conservative journalists should be a war crime.

Killing of your typical MSM “journalist” should be rewarded as we once did for bounty hunters.

Remember, the only diff between a MSM “journalist” and a court transcriber is that one repeats court proceedings verbatim and the other repeats the democratic party statements verbatim.

Yes; the only thing they consider a “war crime” is being defeated by the infidels.
