Islamic Society speaks out against RFRA

PLAINFIELD, Ind. - The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Wednesday expressed concern about Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

"ISNA welcomes the protection of an individual's right to free exercise of religion being given the legal 'strict scrutiny' standard, but has serious concerns about the extension of those rights to corporations as well as the protections against civil liability for discrimination by protected corporations against individuals.

"For example, if a corporation refused to hire a person because they were a Muslim and their religious beliefs did not permit them to hire Muslims, then the prospective employee could not succeed in a lawsuit alleging discrimination against the corporation, because the law is a defense to liability. Similarly, the state government could not levy fines or other punishments against a corporation for discrimination."

"Freedom to practice one's religion has always been among the core constitutional rights of our country. However, this should not be at the expense of other people's civil rights," added ISNA President Azhar Azeez. "We urge Governor Pence and the Indiana Legislature to either repeal this law or add sufficient anti-discrimination protections to insure no one's rights are undermined in the name of religious freedom."

The ISNA is the largest and oldest Islamic umbrella organization in North America. Its mission is to foster the development of the Muslim community, interfaith relations, civic engagement and better understanding of Islam.

I’m sure Muslim bakers would love to make Queer wedding cakes too.

Drat.

If the muzzies are agin, I’m for.

If they are for, I’m agin.

Slang aside, that wretched religion does have a habit of, like libtards, turning a good law into abad one.

Beware.

Christianity does not prohibit Christians from hiring Muslims, but Islamic countries routinely discriminate against Christians. So this group has it backwards.

Who cares? Just don’t patronize these establishments if their views are so offensive to you.

Because there isn't one. But Muslims routinely discriminate against Christians in Muslim countries.

Wonder what happens when a Muslim caterer is asked to prepare a pig roast.

Its almost funny the way the usual cast of characters are learning to act as a chorus.

Its just as well evil speaks with one voice.

The Muslims are only speaking from the experience they know, and if the situation were reversed, for sure the Muslims would turn away an avowed Christian. Or Jew. Or peyote-smoking Native American.

People are hired for the value they can bring to the enterprise. If once hired, they fail to meet expectations as to work ethic, out they go. Every employee, regardless of religious conviction, is called upon to fulfill their defined mission within the organization. If that person cannot, or will not, comply with this modest demand on their talents, then seek employment elsewhere, but certainly depart what would only be a hostile work environment.

Actually a baker could advise ALL of his clients that he uses oil that involves pork in ALL products.

Indeed! I’d love to see the deviants protesting Islamic intolerance...but you know they won’t.

BALONEY! I wouldn’t want to hire those ragheads!

Well, to tell you what I’ve thought about this legislation, all along, is that it’s the “gay issue” that brought it out ... BUT ... it’s not JUST about gays, but preventing Christian business owners from being forced into do several things that they consider to be VIOLATIONS of deeply-held religious convictions! And that would also include my religious objections to their DEATH CULT ... ISLAM!!

I posted elsewhere ...

— — —

To me, this kind of legislation seems to have a lot more to do with OTHER THINGS, other than gays. It seems that the “gay issue” is driving the discussion, but to me, that “gay issue” seems to be a minor point, as compared to ALL of what legislation guaranteeing “Christian Conscience” in business is about.

Unless I’m mistaken about what this kind of bill means, I see this bill as preserving the “conscience” of a Christian owner of a business from serving or doing business with a person who violates that “religious conscience” by who they are or what they represent or what they stand for. SO, in that sense, it is NOT TARGETED at gays, but all sorts of other things that would violate the “Christian’s conscience”!

A sampling of some other things I can think of, in which one would DENY SERVICE to people, would be a group coming in for Pizza who supports ABORTION! That would really violate a Christian’s conscience.

Or, if a Mormon church group came in and had an “after church Pizza gathering” some Sunday afternoon. I would DENY THEM SERVICE as they are one of the largest CULT GROUPS in America ... and as far as I’m concerned Mormons shouldn’t get service from ANY CHRISTIAN BUSINESS WHATSOEVER, ANYWHERE!!

If Mitt Romney were to come in to that Pizza place he SHOULD BE DENIED SERVICE because of clearly being a Mormon!

I would DENY SERVICE to GLENN BECK, too, for his Mormonism!

SO ... it doesn’t appear to be a “gay issue” but a VERY REAL “Religious Conscience” issue and opens the door to CHRISTIAN BUSINESS to serving Christians and not VIOLATING their religious conscience!

This source WTHR thinks they’re sooo cute by taking this handout of PR without commenting or asking questions about Sharia law.

No ROP member will ever be prosecuted. Laws are made to harass Christians not headchoppers.

I wonder how a Muslim caterer would react if a patron demanded they serve ham and wine for a function?
