DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — The man accused of killing three North Carolina college students — their family says because they were Muslim — is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing Monday to determine whether he could face the death penalty.
Durham County District Attorney Roger Echols said in court documents last month he plans to seek the death sentence if Craig Stephen Hicks is convicted of first-degree murder.

I agree. I think this guy is a “loose cannon”. To take human lives over a parking space shows some serious problems.
However, I do think it will be interesting to see how this case unfolds with the anti-death penalty crowd. Will they come forth and support him, and in the process discount the deaths of Muslims? I predict that they will fail to have the courage of their convictions.
I agree. I wish the headline said he killed 3 students instead of 3 Muslims though. Doesn’t sound like it was a factor.
Let’s not talk moral equivalence here. He didn’t kill them for any good reason, he killed them over a parking dispute.

I don’t think I want to be in a hurry to state what I think he should get for his actions, after all - they were muslims. Before all is said and done we may think it would have been best to give him back his guns and turn him loose.
The real takeaway from this is that every other identity group goes on offense EVERY FRIGGIN TIME there is anything (plausible or not) that can be used to advance their agenda and their power. If the rest of society is content to sit back and watch, they are going to lose in the end. There needs to be a powerful identity group for the silent majority of America or we will become a powerless minority very quickly.
I dont know all the facts but I am pretty sure that the victims being muslim had little to nothing to do with their getting shot. Allowing CAIR to capitalize on this and bad precedent to be set in the law hurts society and there needs to be a hard pushback against the attempt to do so.

I’m confidant this will not play out the same as if he was a muslim killing Christians. It hasn’t been presented as someone killing people over a parking space. It’s being presented as another example of the prolific violence against muslims.
If a muslim had chopped the heads off Christians and Jews, while screaming “allahu snackbar,” it would be presented as a dispute over a parking space. And it would be presented as self defense if they thought they could get away with it.

Or a random act. So far this shooting appears to be over a long term parking dispute and nothing else. But every article about it mentions “Muslim” in the headline.
No moral equivilance here,no overthinking. Capital murder committed on three students demands the death penalty. The guy seems a poster child for capital punishment.

did i say that? no--i am only referring to this particular case... honestly, i do not believe religion had anything to do with it... even if the guy killed 3 people who were not religious at all--over a parking space--i would say he deserves the death penalty...
