CNN, has NO answers, just platitudes! He is a one-hit-wonder who just keep singing that one song, “Bring Back Jobs!”

When you mention the facts: taxes, environmental regulations, healthcare regulations, forced paid leave, threats of new forced paid maternity leave, excessive costs, and all the other B.S. which the Federal, State, and Local authorities are throwing on business owners, CNN simply says, “I’m just saying we need to bring back our own jobs.”

As long as our own government is more burdensome to our business owners, our business owners will be shipping jobs overseas - PERIOD!

There is NO patriotism in cutting your own economic throat, when you know that it won’t actually fix a damn thing! You can’t martyr YOURSELF; that’s just suicide!

No, it's not.

The American empire is fading. Most of the jobs that you claim America is "exporting" were never here in the first place.

Apple manufactures its iPhone products and various components, for example, in places like Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Some components are even manufactured here in the U.S and shipped overseas for final assembly, believe it or not. But Apple never "exported" these jobs anywhere. These jobs never existed here in the first place.

And guess what: Most of these iPhones are sold in Asia, not the U.S.

In other words, the American empire is dying.

Taxes and regulations are killing the golden goose. My proposal would eliminate the income tax completely (repeal of 16th amendment) and all taxes on capital gains, interest and dividends. A big chunk of those trillions sloshing around overseas would pour into this country. The money flow would be phenomenal; liberation of capital such as hasn’t been seen in 100 years. Institute a national sales tax with rebates for low income. Social Security can be a privatized option for those under a specified age. It would be an economic freedom fest. Right now the USA has dropped to 36th in economic freedom. In a short time, the USA would catapult to #1, passing Switzerland and Hong Kong.

There's something to be said for that. I read somewhere that Apple's corporate taxes in the Asian countries where it operates average about 2% of its profits.

In the U.S. it would be 35%.

Here is a case where having Apple manufacture iPhones in the U.S. isn't even in the best interests of American workers who own shares of Apple.

That is abject idiocy. The American empire isn't just dying. It's losing its mind in the process.

Then you are blind.

Incidentally, I've seen you "support" American jobs (supposedly), if wordcount suffices . . . but I've never see you propose anything but higher taxes, and you've backed-off on those as well.

Healthshare programs are alternatives to Obamacare.

I am all for America being a free place, which doesn’t rely on government to run our healthcare.

I recall that you wanted the government to run healthcare, but backed-off on that too.

You’re absolutely right, idiocy reigns. Voltaire said the earth is the insane asylum of the universe. He died in 1778 and never lived to observe that Washington, D.C., takes undisputed first prize for unparalled insanity. If D.C. weren’t so malicious and destructive toward the ordinary citizen, they would be comic. One thing I like about a national tax is the transfer of fiscal power to the end consumer. The government is beholden to the sales tax, and the consumer can buy or choose not to buy. He can limit his purchases as protest. There’s ongoing free choice involved in the financing of the governmemt.

I hear on thread after thread how “we need to bring back U.S. jobs”, I never read about the plan. Without a plan it’s just an annoying platitude.

That pretty much sums up Cringing Negativism Network's usual responses. No one on FR, as far as I can recall, has ever said, "no, we don't need jobs here in America."

Please take it up a notch, CNN...tell us HOW to create more American jobs.

The thing is, Americans should stop sending jobs overseas.

If only we could add more taxes, more idiotic regulations and more union labor, all your whining would be unnecessary.

That's his job. And we can't fire him, he's in the union.

In Vermont and Washington, two other eager ObamaCare states, enrollment actually fell slightly this year.

In the case of Vermont I know people that never even got their insurance card last year. All paid up but no card ever sent. Small wonder they would not re-enroll.

“Please take it up a notch, CNN...tell us HOW to create more American jobs.”

No doubt their answer will be more government spending on more government programs.

His plan is:

a) Impose 100% tariffs on imported goods.

b) ~ A miracle occurs. ~

c) America starts building massive factories despite the huge tax and regulatory costs involved, and begins paying millions of random layabouts $50/hour (inclusive of taxes and healthcare) to manufacture goods domestically, even though there are few workers left who even know how to make the products that were outsourced three decades ago.

What really would happen is:

a) Impose 100% tariffs on imported goods.

b) Thousands of small American import-based businesses are wiped out, along with millions of jobs.

c) An average trip to Walmart for the same goods now costs $58.50 instead of $39.75.

C) China laughs at our idiocy, and makes up for their 20% drop in sales by selling more to the growing economies elsewhere in the world.

I simply skip over CNN’s posts. I’ve done it a hundred times or more. They’re like a broken record. Imagine how boring this place would be if everyone posted like that! Damn straight we all want job creation in this country but that is just a ridiculous way to try to achieve it.

I think rather than trying to “create” jobs, we should bring them back to where they were up until about 10 - 15 years ago.

They were right here in America.

A whole bunch of Americans were fired. The jobs were sent to China. Now a whole bunch of Chinese are getting ever richer, and Americans are scr&wed.

I say this is real easy. Just bring back jobs to America.

Use tariffs, or use some other method, but we cannot keep spending ever more American money on ever more stuff, made overseas.

That is the point.

Bring back jobs. Right here to the USA.

While I'm sympathetic CNN, I just don't think you can bring "those" jobs back. Simply, labor is too expensive here. We've priced a lot of those jobs right out of the USA.

There are jobs to be had, but they require a higher education (not necessarily 4+ year degrees, but more than high school). There are jobs in healthcare, energy, aerospace, technology, and more specialized manufacturing. Education is key, but not like liberals would have you believe.
