The Islamic State is demanding a $30 million ransom to release hundreds of Christian hostages.
Fox News reports ISIS jihadists are demanding $100,000 for each hostage.
"They know we cannot come up with this kind of money so they're hoping other groups and countries will come up with the money," Fox quoted an unnamed Assyrian leader.
The jihadi army captured 250-300 civilians in attacks on 35 Assyrian villages in the Hasaka province on February 23.
Islamic State fighters killed nine Assyrians attempting to defend their homes.
So far the Islamist group released 23 hostages who were told to leave the country rather than return to their homes.
The Islamic State has targeted Christian areas of Iraq and Syria, demanding residents convert to Islam and threatening to bomb their churches if they did not remove the crosses.

We should pray for these hostages, but we should not pay for these hostages.
Releasing the terrorists by Moslem Obola and withHOLDER

‘Mom! Dad! Jihadi John is going to slaughter me!’ president says before he is killed in animated video.
Affiliates of the Islamic State group have released an animated video depicting a jihadist beheading US President Barack Obama.
The clip, which was uploaded and translated on Saturday by MEMRI, a US-based Middle Eastern media watchdog group, begins with the words “Message to America,” followed by a scene portraying the American president on his knees and crying profusely.
The president’s head is seen held by “Jihadi John” — the British citizen infamous for his role in videos showing the grisly executions of Western citizens captured by the terrorist group — who slaps the American president on the head, calling him a “mule” in Arabic.
“This knife has been craving Obama’s stinky blood and today Allah gave us the power to capture the mule of the Jews,” the executioner says, slapping the president once again and demanding he speak.
“Mom! Dad! Jihadi John is going to slaughter me! Save me!” Obama says in Arabic before the cartoon depicts the jihadist severing the neck of the American commander-in-chief.
American Christians are armed to the teeth - and with good reason (can’t preach the Gospel with a severed head).
I think we ought to give it to them in dropped smart bombs.
The next President should build a couple of boats with more guns on them than any ship in the world and send over, backed by an armada and have a talk with them...
Simple. Pay it!
Print up 30 million in paper notes, stamp each with the picture of Obama, and declare them good.
Once the hostages are freed, declare the Obama notes null and void and non-redemable.
Kind of like the HAWAII bank notes of WWII.
