Is Obama Ready to Confront Iran Over Yemen?

The Obama administration, while showing willingness to cave in to just about every Iranian demand in the ongoing nuclear negotiations, appears to be flexing its muscles in the Yemen proxy fight between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Isn’t it amazing that we “wonder” what our “president” might do?

You can imagine the scene....a dozen front-office people/special advisers....none with military experience....talking to the President.

The key ingredient to this plan is the least amount of firepower necessary....as not to intimidate or harm Iran. So, they finally open up a Janes Navy book on the US Navy...because they don’t even know the capability of their own navy. Eventually, they decide on two light cruisers...suggesting the Cleveland-class. Later they discover that all of the Cleveland-class cruisers were retired decades ago. Then finally, they say the USS Lake Erie (because it has a nifty name) will be the chosen vessel to fight off the Iranians over Yemen.

Then the arguments will start up over the operational name for this.

Finally, someone will ask about the repercussions if they accidentally sink an Iranian ship. The President will start sweating and everyone will realize that engaging is absolutely forbidden.

My read: The USN regional & Fleet commands are “keeping options open” for the president by positioning ships & aircraft to interdict the shipments “if the order is given.”

But that’s about it. I don’t think the Obama Adminstration has made any decisions at this point and are probably ‘hoping’ that Iran will back down.

“Hope” isn’t a strategy. Obama had better get his sh- together because he’s being tested.

Obama will do Zip. The ships will sail on—it will be up to Saudi Arabia and/or Egypt to stop the shipment.

Obama could not “confront” the “Good Humor” Ice cream man over a soft Popsicle which truly represents his entire White House stay. Add to this that the Messiah, oops, I mean POTUS was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace therefore, he cannot wage war against anybody, except, maybe Bibi Netanyahu...

It's OK, a few weeks ago during a major military exercise, the Iranian obliterated a 1:1 size mock up of a US Carrier. Gee, why would you negotiate with an enemy who is blowing your ships up? Maybe they're waiting for the US Fleet to arrive so they can do it for real? If not now, later...thanks Barekeh Hussein Obama.

Perhaps things aren't what they seem...Obama DID threaten to shoot Israeli Jets out of the sky if they attacked Iran...Could be he will do the same to anyone who attacks Iran's interests...

I shutter to think how Israel might react if the US did shoot down IAF planes. They are a coiled spring Air Force and might make a single pass over the White House like they did at Osirak, Iraq in 1981...they'd be doing all of us a favor.
