Two House Democrats want the Department of Homeland Security to grant a temporary immigrant status for Nepalese nationals affected by the country's earthquake.
Democratic Reps. Al Green (Texas) and Mike Honda (Calif.) have introduced a bill to establish a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to citizens of Nepal so that they are protected from deportation or detainment. TPS is frequently authorized in conditions that prevent safe return of a country's citizens, such as a civil war or natural disaster.
Under the legislation, Nepalese applicants would be eligible for TPS if they had been legally present in the U.S. since April 25, or the date of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The status would be granted for 18 months.

Of course. Immigration to the US is the liberal solution to all problems outside the US — domestic violence, gang violence, dysfunctional governments, plate tectonics. Except of course for Mohammedan persecution of Christians.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti, one of our nation’s newer TPS programs, has been extended from July 23, 2014 to January 22, 2016. (80,000 I think)
This is idiotic. We are faced with lack of jobs, don’t need more people on welfare. Every time there is a disaster somewhere in the world, we have to start bringing in people form those countries?! It’s just part of destroy America agenda.
Is the victim count higher for the Nepal earthquake or for Christians killed this year by muslims?

But I thought that they wanted to control the population? Adding many thousands or millions of people into the U.S. is not controlling the “population size”. Work and send out the Peace Corps and let other organizations go out and help rebuild Nepal so that Nepal can be a decent place.
The Nepali are fine people but other than votes, not sure why the gov wants this.
The Nepalis I know here are highly educated and totally self-reliant. That said, they tend to be libs. OBTW if you want to clean out Baltimore’s gang issue, send in a squad of Gurkhas.
