Vladimir Putin's new tanks to be revealed at Victory Day parade

Russia's ministry of defence has unveiled a new array of war machines that it said would revolutionise the country's army and put it in a position to outclass Western rivals for the first time since the Cold War.

Photographs released on Tuesday show the T-14 Armata tank, a semi-robotic replacement for Russia's current T-90, and its sibling armoured personnel carriers, fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery models which will take pride of place at Saturday's Victory Day parade on Red Square.

In earlier photographs released last month the turret was covered with fabric and only the chassis was visible. The Armata was first seen without its cover at a parade rehearsal in Moscow on Monday.

Having zero knowledge about such matters I will leave it to others to say whether this is good gear or not.

I see sloped armor on the bottom face of the turret, shells hitting there will deflect downward into the hull.

More differences between this version and the past:

#1 It's taller than previous versions and has an angled current configuration rather than a rounded slope shape.

#2 Also (more significantly) the treads seem to be of the supported nature, similar to our setup. In the past the Russkies used a "Flat Track" that was easier to maintain in the field but not as efficient in moving the vehicle as our supported versions.

There might be other clues but I'm too tired to look that carefully.

What’s the difference in a supported tread and a flat-track tread?

Looks like a powerful MTB. Big on anti air protection. Looks like an earlier Merkava MTB with modern up to date composite armour. It has that smaller turret which is narrower and angle and yeh it does look like it has a shot trap point between the turret and the tank body which may be advantageous to the enemy.
