Where did you locate in S. Oregon?

We moved to the Grants Pass area.

DW and I had always wanted to have a few acres and our money went a lot further here than in places in CA with similar climates.

My husband was force-retired after being seriously injured doing his job. He PAID into his retirement, insurances, all taxes, SS, forced high union dues, etc., for 20 years. (To receive his pension, he can never receive SS, ever, btw.)

On $30K, we cannot afford to live in CA. We still pay for insurances, even the forced maternity & “gender reassignment” higher amounts dictated by the criminals in charge. We used to live in the Sierras when it was affordable. The Bay area swooped in, making the COL insane. We had to sell our home when he was injured. Once the retirement went through, we bought a home in northern ID where our savings was enough for the 25% down payment.

I do not like being over 1000 miles away from my daughter and grandchildren, but love living here. We grow a good portion of our food and can use a wood stove to heat, cutting costs down. Taxes are somewhat reasonable. As long as I budget carefully, we are okay.

He NEVER voted with the union, except on safely issues. One coworker, rightly, commented that the union would lobby them out of a job. He was right, the CYA was assimulted into the corrections system after my husband was out of there.

For those who think that the majority who paid into the system, get the average $30K per year, still pay for insurances and the like, is “unfair” and we should be punished because a state has been run by the socialist/ commies we never voted for or policies we voted against, wants more monies to continue giving out a free living to those who never paid into the system, including the criminal illegals the state supports?

My husband earned his retirement. He owes CA nothing, nor does he owe those who are... jealous?, because we got out if that fascist state.

If one wants to have fits over the CalPERS pensions then look to the politicians who forced CalPERS to give them high pensions and other bennies without paying one thin dime into it, or those high in various agencies who get promoted by their political buddies just long enough to get an unearned high pension.

For those who still want us to be punished for being intelligent enough to leave, you can all kiss my middle-aged backside.
