PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Federal investigators have determined that an Amtrak train that crashed in Philadelphia, killing at least seven people, was careening through the city at 106 mph before it ran off the rails along a sharp curve where the speed limit drops to just 50 mph, yet they still don’t know why it was going so fast.

Finally, they ask the right question. It drives me nuts when they say, “Why did the train going 106 mph crash?” The answer is that it was speeding. We all know the answer to that question.

The real question is “why was it speeding at that particular place?”

It was speeding because the Republicans didn’t spend enough money on Amtrak, the poor, and gay marriage.

“If you ask questions about this, you’re obviously a homophobe.”

Watch for that to be the media meme.

Again.... HR problems are at the bottom of it.

The US has got itself inured to failures, flaws, mediocrity, incompetence, criminality, negligence, unfitness for the job, poor service, etc.

With THE most corrupt and inept person in the US at the head of affairs in DC... the same ‘culture’ populates our corporations, schools, hospitals, manufacturing concerns, etc.

HR is at the bottom of ALL OF IT! And of course, U.S voters are the “HR” entity when it comes to ‘hiring’ Presidents! :)

In Japan, speeding like this is nearly impossible because most the JR Group and private rail lines have Automatic Train Stop (ATS) systems, which automatically slow down or even stop a train due to excessive speed or running a red signal. And they increased the number of ATS sensors after the Amagasaki accident in 2005, which the lack of ATS warning sensors on the track before a sharp curve contributed to the derailment.

Possibly because some gay dude was dicking around with his iPhone/Apple Watch.

Good question. Wonder how many Gaydar app matches pop up at 106 MPH in Philly?

Speeding, emergency braking, and leaving the scene.

Now the engineer claimed (through his lawyer) he blacked out and ‘doesn’t remember a thing’ ......

Obviously the train was doing twice the speed limit because the mean old Republicans in Congress gutted America's infrastructure monies.

Everybody knows that.

And if the Republicans wouldn’t be such dunces, they would counter that slander with the fact that Amtrak was not a priority for Obama and his Democrat Congress in 2009, while Solyndra and other Green failures were.

“He remembers coming into curve. He remembers attempting to reduce seed and thereafter he was knocked out,” Goggin said.

A little Freudian slip there?

Probably trying to make up time if it had been running late. Motivation might be some weird rule, like the stuff they do for airplanes such as moving the plane a few feet on the ground to make it’s planned departure time.
