Saw an interview last week on ISIS and operations in the Middle East where basically the Egypt/Jordan/Saudi Arabia/Iran plus Israel "quasi-alliance" is going to have to do this thing the hard way. The only thing that the U.S. can do is offer support, hit critical targets with airstrikes, and prevent ISIS from making attacks on the homeland. They're getting several hundred recruits a day, taking advantage of the corruption that is inherent in that part of the world, and are daring the Arab world to do something about it. The King of Jordan thinks that ISIS will be defeated, but it's not going to be easy.

This is what frustrates me and also speaks to those who gave up their lives or a limb in Iraq: The mistake was NOT going in. The mistake was leaving. At the time I saw it as a way to suck in all the America hating jihadis to fight US troops rather than blow up shopping malls.

We still have a presence in Germany and Japan. I figured we’d be in Iraq indefinitely to ensure stability as well as a killing field for those who would desire to disrupt said stability.
