Trump Again Suggests Execution for Snowden [July 2013]

Donald Trump broached the idea of execution for National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden for the second time in a week Monday.

"I think Snowden is a terrible threat, I think he's a terrible traitor, and you know what we used to do in the good old days when we were a strong country? You know what we used to do to traitors, right?" Trump said on the "Fox & Friends" program.

"Well, you killed them, Donald," host Eric Bolling replied.

Trump appears highly distressed with the whole affair. Snowden is in a Moscow airport, and the U.S. government wants him back to face espionage charges.

"This guy is really doing damage to this country, and he's also making us looks like dopes," Trump said. "We can't allow this guy to go out there and give out all our secrets and also embarrass us at every level. We should get him back and get him back now."

Last week on Fox, Trump said, "Spies in the old days used to be executed. ... There is still a thing called execution. ... Unless the retribution is swift and really strong, you're going to have other people coming out with more information than he's done."

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

I can think of a whole lot of people in a particular area of this country that deserve that far, far more than Snowden does, Mr. Comb Over.

Re Snowden, I wonder whether a more correct response would be a pardon (on the grounds that the “illegal” act was actually the right thing to do) and promotion to head the NSA for the purpose of dismantling it at least in part.

Well a lot of people in the US agree with Trump. I do not. I think the guy (Snowden) should get a medal. But that being said its an issue rational people can disagree on. You will never agree 100% with anybody. I am looking for a presidential candidate that I agree on the big stuff with. I don’t have a problem with Trump. I hope he runs.

When is somebody going to “get the hook” and get this a$$hole off of the national stage? No one on the face of the earth likes the sound of their own voice more than Trump. He has an alligator mouth and a hummingbird a$$. We owe Snowdon a debt of gratitude, not a rope.

Look at the date! This is an old story. How about a comment on Donald Trump's macho cowardice regarding Pamela Geller? This buffoon says that Pamela Geller taunted all of us by standing up for the first amendment.

This fellow is not fit to be President.

The spies are also in our government. Had Snowden not blown the whistle, we’d never have known the extent of NSA’s snooping on Americans.

Snowden is viewed by the intelligence community as an unstable person with sexual habits that he was afraid of being exposed. He is also viewed as a traitor whose flight to Russia is more than coincidental.

While he’s making money selling books, he has put our security in jeopardy, completely mischaracterizing how the programs he writes about are used. He was a contractor, not an analyst. Those who could correct the misconceptions that he is cashing in on cannot because it would further compromise security. I agree with Trump on this. He’s the lowest kind of slime.

Trump is an absolute buffoon, and I would vote for Gellar for president, and I would never, ever, under any conceivable circumstance, vote for this fool Trump for anything.

Yep. I am hoping she’ll be a Secretary of State or an assistant Secretary of State under a Cruz administration.

He’s an entertaining showboat, but at the end of the day, a buffoon like Biden.

But—clearing throat loudly/harrumphing—of course I respect the opinions of those here who think he’s the real deal and a viable candidate, and not just a rich guy with too much time on his hands, on a ridiculous, self-serving ego trip.
