Senate GOP prepared to replace Obamacare subsidies
Politico ^ | 05/26/2015 | JENNIFER HABERKORN and RACHAEL BADE

Preparing for a Supreme Court decision that could strike down Obamacare’s subsidies for nearly 7.5 million people this summer, Senate Republicans are coalescing around a plan to resurrect them — at a steep price for the White House.

With several Senate Republicans facing tough reelections, and control of the chamber up for grabs, 31 senators have signed on to a bill written by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) that would restore the subsidies for current Obamacare enrollees through September 2017. But the administration would have to pay a heavy price — the bill would also repeal Obamacare’s individual and employer mandates and insurance coverage requirements.

“In that moment of what could be political chaos, we’re offering such a reasonable proposal that solves a mess,” Johnson said. “It fixes a mess caused by a sloppily written law, unlawfully implemented. All we’re asking for is a little bit of freedom back, which would be, I think, pretty popular,” Johnson said. Even Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is backing Johnson’s measure, along with the rest of the chamber’s GOP leaders.

Johnson, who’s got a tight race in 2016, says the legislation would be a bridge to ensure that consumers can keep the insurance they have — a promise that President Barack Obama was widely criticized for breaking in 2014.

But even if Johnson could somehow persuade Obama and Senate Democrats to accept his plan — a herculean task — the bigger problem will be his Republican colleagues in the House.

The GOP NEVER FAILS TO SNACH DEFEAT from the jaws of VICTORY !

ANYTHING OBAMA SAYS is worthless.
Watch what he does, and not what he says.
The ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF wants ~ and is DIRECTING the policies that regulate ALL health care plans
in the United States ~ TO FAIL !
NEVER FORGET THAT !

Many of us have said for many years that Obama is doing this INTENTIONALLY.
He using the old Soviet Plan from 1934 or earlier.

Only idiots and the evil voted for Obama, or ANY of the Democrats.
AND NOW, WE CAN ADD "Establishment Republicans" TO THAT LIST, ALSO!
They've lied to us, constantly, and really are "Collapsing the System".
And now, these "Useful IDIOTS" who voted for them, are buying the lies that "Obamacare was designed to work." ?
It was designed to fail from the start.
THEN ... THEY GO TO THE "SINGLE-PAYER SYSTEM". They've been sucking our wallets dry for over four years now on the "Obamacare" LIE.
AND NOW THEY WANT MORE TAXES ?
Our Founding Fathers would have hung them already!

Lets review:

Who was it that expanded Medicare and Medicaid to cover many, many more people than it was originally designed to cover?

So Democrats,
Sen Mark Kirk's statement Thursday, Dec 1, 2011 ... It's not our fault that DEMOCRATS raided the Social Security Trust Fund.
Let's remember ...

The EXEMPT GOP proves again why they should NEVER be trust
except, of course, to give the impostor (and themselves)
more power.

The GOP swore for votes they would eliminate ObamaCARE,
but it is RomneyCARE and they, their families, and their
staff, are EXEMPT.

This is the way its really going to go down:

Obama will say, “no deal”. Give me everything I want. You get nothing in return.

The republican senators will then lay down and play dead.

End of discussion.

Hide & Watch as these elements get removed over White Mosque objections.

Sorry, RINO-lover.

The GOP is finished by suicide, consisting
of empowering the Tyrant (while the People want his stopped),
enriching themselves (using ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE)
and arming al Qaeda.

Obama, Boehner, McConnell and Romney will go down
in history as criminals for destroying American Integrity,
border Security, and the idea of Family.

Ok, when Obama vetoes (or threatens to veto) Johnson’s bill unless it is a “clean” bill, what is the GOP going to do?

Anybody care to guess?

Fold, and then send Obama what he wants.

It is high time to send the GOPe a message, and I believe the only message they will understand is the undiluted political massacre of their precious GOPe incumbents. I am probably leaving off a few names, but Johnson, Kirk, Portman, McCain, and Ayotte all need to be defeated in 2016. And I don’t care if they lose to the Democrats in the General.

It is far better to have Democrats in office than these turncoats. At least with Democrats, we (and the public) know where they stand.

I have a new health care plan. Lower Medicare to age 50. Make it pay 100% for persons 50 and over. Double the taxes on everyone under 40 to pay for it. Create a mandatory government insurance program for everyone 40 and under. Make them pay for it through premiums. No one under 40 can have private insurance. Age 40 to 50 gets private insurance of their choice. Insurance companies can only insure ages 40 to 50.

I've paid enough in taxes the past few years to buy a couple of heart transplants. I'm ready to start getting something for my "investment". Full disclosure... I'm 55 years old.

I think that if the GOPe actually gets the individual and employer mandates eliminated, Obamacare will fail on its own...problem solved.
Tort reform and buying insurance across state lines would be icing on the cake.

I don’t know, but I would venture to guess a majority of the 7.5 million people getting subsidies are not Republican voters anyway, so why fix it?

I thought it was understood/established that if you kill the individual mandate you put Obamacare into an unrecoverable death spiral.

The proposal sounds reasonable. It protects those who depend on subsidies until 2017, which is plenty of time for the private sector to come up with alternatives. It demands an end to mandates, which would mean people could choose their plan....or not.

The problem would be getting the 'pubs to stand firm against Obama.
