Now we know why he defended William Jefferson, D-LA, when he was indicted. They’re all dirty.
Dennis Hamsandwich!
I think you’re likely right. I guess the new rule is it’s not the thing you’re being blackmailed for, it’s how you structure the payment of the blackmail.
And, like you said, the actual blackmailer is likely being given a pass. Folks have to be super careful with the ‘RATS being in charge of the government “Justice” apparatus.
Bye Bye Dennis!
Had to do something to get Billary off of the front page and out of the sheeples news cycle and out of their minds.
Gunner
Blood in the water. I give it 24 hours before the press reports the nature of these “prior bad acts”.
Basically, he was withdrawing his own money, but since it's now The King's Money, if you don't do it EXACTLY the way The King tells you to, then it's a crime.
Secondly, he was stupid enough to talk to the Fibbies, who are always too busy to prosecute REAL felons like Hillary Clinton and Lois Lerner.
It sounds “Gay Bob” to me.
You have to remember that he's only been re-subjected to "peasant law" for 8 years.
They apparently forget what they've done to us.
And in the case of a Democommie, "peasant law" NEVER applies - retired or not...
Very selective indicting, they do. They never did indict Lois Lerner. So, what Hastert did wrong, was withdraw money from his bank in a way to avoid IRS detection?
73 year old Hastert agreed to pay someone 3.5 million in cash to cover up past misconduct and then lied to the FBI about this.
What a mess!
Back up the boat.......afterthought. My brain is slow.
I thought structuring had to do with avoiding taxes on deposits.
Blackmail or not, isn’t it up to the recipient of the funds to report to the IRS?
Basically he was indicted because he was not truthful (major STUPID) with the feds about what he was doing with his own money? It’s his money. If he wants to pay off a blackmailer, so what?
“Let this be a warning McConnell, Bonhner, and all Washington Republicans.”
Bingo! That is exactly what this is: demonstrating the long arm of the MacDaddy and his minions. You can run, but you can’t hide...
"Flying under the radar" is a federal felony.
If no charges are brought regarding the so-called misconduct, my assumptions would be either:
-Past the statute of limitations
-Individual A refused to press charges
-Not criminal (an affair)
My reasoning is if the feds could get him on the misconduct they would not hesitate to charge him.
If Individual A is not charged with extortion or structuring, it is Illinois/Obama politics as usual.
Hastert should have kept his mouth shut which is far better than lying to the feds. He should be indicted for stupidity.
Whether Hastert is guilty, or not, talking to the FBI was a big mistake. There is never an advantage to talking to the cops or the feds unless you are an actual victim; and even then it may not be wise.
Agree completely. Can’t believe he’d do it (and maybe lie) without having an attorney to advise him. Not smart at all.
