Ditto!
Then it sounds like a win.
Very good analysis.
2 additional points.
1) Saudi royals (so many of them) each faction, at higher echelons at least, has its own mini military or more like mercenaries to protect them or their ‘faction’. This is similar to the regime mullahs in Iran.
2) Saudi gov’t, within SA, is very selective who they choose to militarily train. That’s why your point is sound, “genetics vs skills”. And, that’s why in Yemen in recent months Saudis relied on a coalition, including the Egyptian military. Although SA is well-stocked in equipment and weapons.
Yes, all you say is probably true. But I was feeling a little ray of hope when I met this nice young man. Who knows? When I was seated next to him, I intentionally called the dog over .. a gorgeous collie, beloved by our hostess, and noticed that the “nice” young man had zero response to the dog it’s an Arab thing .they hate dogs oh well.
I was in SF in ‘79 there were always demonstrations of one sort of another there, but when the Iranian students started, I was with my daughter downtown shopping, noticed an entirely different tone they weren’t just shouting and marching, they were focussed like nothing I’d seen or heard before. They changed the world.
Saw a show on late-nite PBS recently, a film about Jewish businessmen in Tehran with their families in ‘79 .they sent their families back to Israel right away, but stayed for weeks, hoping things would calm down. Footage of the early days of revolution were very interesting and distressing. The men finally packed up to leave because “no one can win against a crowd that doesn’t care whether they die for their cause.”
Chilling, huh?
Would they blow it up?
Or would they venerate it?

Shortly after the revolution, my brother hired a man here in The OC, for menial labor. He had smuggled himself and some gold out of Iran.
He was an MD, and a Jew.
You need to do some reading.
So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye. There ain't no good guys, there ain't no bad guys. There's only you and me and we just disagree. Ooo - ooo - ooohoo oh - oh - o-whoa
Also, unlike the U.S., they will absolutely NOT fight using Rules of Engagement written by the enemy!!
I saw that first hand during Desert Storm when I was attached to the KAAMB at Al Khafji.
