The answer was given ...
“Yet, this part of the British Empire ...”
They were no more a British subject than if one was from Wales, Rhodesia, or ANZUS.

Not an Anglophile then, lol.

And America is guilty of the same ‘crime’. I have met many Americans who think the US invented all modern gadgets telephone, TV, computer, motor car. I have to explain where Bell came from and who John Logie Baird and Charles Babbage/Alan Turing are.

So Americans can be just as parochial and arrogant as the UK or anyone else.

“The process of turning to those who can produce a product or service at a lower marginal cost is called “comparative advantage,” and it’s the key ingredient to an efficient and productive economy.”

“comparative advantage,”? Na. It’s called taking your fellow
Americans who support a higher standard of living and throwing
them under the bus for nothing more than wetbacks on another
continent. The only thing lower is hiring wetbacks here in
the states.

TBF, a tiny % of Indians fought against the British. On 4th Sept 1939, over 400000 Indians stood at recruiting offices to enlist.

I’d love to visit, not necessarily live there lol. I have a lifelong interest in Indian history, religion and culture.

India contributed significantly to the Allied effort in WW2. It’s certainly not given much acknowledgement in the popular media such as films and television.

We have the same phenomenon in the U.S., where at times it seems even the Pacific Theater, a largely American show, gets short shrift in comparison to the European Theater. There is little awareness of what we call the CBI Theater with the average Joe.

Without the leadership of the British, the Japs would have taken all of India no matter the size of the Indian army. The Jap Army made it into Assam despite the fact it was a logistical nightmare for them.

It's the actor from Lost playing Kip, the British Sikh soldier, in The English Patient.

You may have slept through that part. It wouldn't have been hard.

“So Americans can be just or anyone else.”

“parochial and arrogant”, true. “as parochial and arrogant as the UK” No way.
The ultimate display and example of human arrogance is royalty. Why people put up with it is beyond me.

” India is the worst. Theoretical knowledge, but no ability to translate that to real world products. “

They are, however, incredibly good with the creation and maintenance of bureaucracy.

Never heard of them fellas, what band were they in? :)

Other than the King James Bible, England did give us the only poet I can stand.
You ever heard of that Kipling fella?
I love his poetry, every one else gives me a headache.

And Winston Churchill, he was a man for all ages.
Unappreciated now, but he warned us many decades ago about the Islamists.

Seems to me that we’ve done best when America and England stood together.

Like the P51 Mustang and the Merlin engine.
Like Iron Maggie and the Gipper.

We all should.

Esp as a Brit, I am well aware that without India and the Empire, we’d have lost both world wars. As an American, you should regard them as a fine ally in those wars.

As a Brit, maybe more than Americans, I have a huge affection for the Indians in WW1/2, and the Empire/Commonwealth men and women who served.

India is part of the British blood and psyche.
