The new state budget that the Legislature approved Friday offers a break to some of the millions of Californians whose drivers licenses have been suspended for failing to pay traffic tickets a chance to get their licenses back by signing up for a cut-rate repayment program, with further discounts for the poor.

"nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
Basing a fine for violating a law on one's income does not fit the equal protection definition.
They are going to have their EBT cards garnished?
This kind of thing can only happen in a state with too much money available. They should spend it on water and pensions. And people who snuck in.
IOW, taxpayers not only get to pay for their food, housing, education, medical care, cell phones, internet, blah, blah, blah but now for their speeding tickets.
I’m going to move to Idaho, get a mail drop in San Fran and fly there once a month on a cheap SWA ticket to pickup my California state government checks!
Having collected NOTHING from these people - they are trying to get at least SOMETHING from SOME of them.
