He said people opposed to it could keep "advocating." Mighty white of him, that.
But he didn't say they'd be allowed to actually refuse to provide service.
That all-encompassing white light you see approaching might just be a thunderbolt.
Actually, (in-)Justice Kennedy only assured us we could say we don’t agree. We can verbally say we don’t think gay “marriage” should be permitted, but we’re prohibited from doing anything about it short of a constitutional amendment. Additionally, he never said we’d be able to freely exercise our religion outside of home and church. In fact, previously rulings have said religious objections don’t give us the right to violate civil rights. You couldn’t say you don’t want to rent an apartment to a minority for example, and homosexuals are now a protected class by Supreme Court edict.
So where’s this separation between church and state these liberals scream about?
They used to be “Protestants and Other Americans United for Separation of Church and State,” an anti-Catholic group. At some point they dropped the “Protestants and Other” part of their name...and expanded the list of their targets.
umg... Barry Lynn is a schmuck of the first order.
He didn't have to. The First Amendment beat him to it.
In fact, previously rulings have said religious objections dont give us the right to violate civil rights.
Previous rulings also don't give queers the right to violate civil rights, including the right to free exercise of one's religion.
You couldnt say you dont want to rent an apartment to a minority for example, and homosexuals are now a protected class by Supreme Court edict.
A "minority" (by which I assume you mean an ETHNIC minority) is not condemned by the Bible as an abomination. Nor is it a chosen lifestyle. Nor does the Bible exhort us to shun minorities. But it does warn us against supporting -- either through action or inaction -- the continuing depravity of others.
I remember seeing him on TV and he’s an obnoxious bustard. Kinda makes you want to just bitch-slap him.
This guy Barry Lynn is the Westboro Baptist Church of public intellectuals.
OUCH!
Lynn is a harcore leftist and always has been since the Vietnam war. He uses his clergy status (I don’t know if he was ordained or not), to cover up his anti-American, anti-religion activities, and he gets lots of support from the Marxist left and limousine liberals.
ROFLMAO. Make him PRAY for it to stop.
And unfortunately, they often have Very Nice Churches (TM) from back in the day, especially all those really cool colonial-style white churches in New England. Perfect for Weddings for Hire, even if they are empty on Sundays.
I remember a case in Louisiana some years ago in which a lady was sued for refusing, on religious grounds, to rent to an unmarried straight couple. She won, but the judge noted that the duplex was her own private property and the landlady’s property wasn’t government subsidized.
The religious institutions’ tax exemptions are being targeted as if they are subsidies, and I really don’t believe the two are the same. I could be wrong.
Barry Lynn's eternal abode. There is no rest here, just torment.
Gay student “housing”.
>>the gay agenda is the new state religion.
It’s the old state religion.
Look at who/what propped the Eqyptian Pharaohs and Babylonian kings up atop their state-establishments.
It was the eunuchs.
I hear ya...
Stevie Wonder could have seen this coming.
Christians in all faiths have to FIGHT BACK.
Otherwise the Gay Gestapo will rule over us.
