Ukrainian forces surround nationalist militia following deadly attack in western Ukraine

At least two people were killed and seven injured in the fighting that broke out after armed men bearing the insignia of Pravy Sektor (Right Sector), a far-Right paramilitary group, drove into the Ukrainian town of Mukachevo, near the Polish and Hungarian borders, on Saturday.

At least two Pravy Sektor fighters were killed in the ensuing melee, which also saw two police cars destroyed by grenade launchers.

An unknown number of Pravy Sektor fighters were still believed to be hiding in countryside near the town on Sunday evening.

Dmitro Yarosh, the head of the far-Right group, flew into the town on Sunday to negotiate an end to the stand off.

Government special forces reportedly postponed a planned assault on the surrounded fighters on Saturday night to allow negotiations to take place.

Two of the most powerful volunteer battalions involved in the war in east Ukraine have spoken out in support of Pravy Sektor.

...whose nom-de-guerre is "Chorniy"

I thought "Chorniy" was the Russian equivalent of "nigger". It's what Russians call the Georgians and other darker skinned people from the Caucasus.

Been gone for the weekend, and just saw this.

Poroshenko has been trying to undercut the power of the Nazi mobs for a while now, but this sports bar shoot-up seems to be bringing things to a head.

Twitter says the “OUN” wierdos have been “called to Kiev” tonight, and will be marching with Right Sector to parliament on Monday morning. Could get “interesting”.

Russian “LifeNews” is reporting that this began over a police attempt to shut down Right Sector’s Cigarette Smuggling operation.

No, actually it's the direct translation of the English word "black". Using it for the Caucasian descent people is really meant to be offensive in the contemporary Russian, because they have nothing to do with the Negro race.

I find interesting that it's really difficult to google English items on the topic, excluding the Sputnik, Russia Today, etc., while there's a lot about it in the both Russian and Ukrainian media.

Yes, the article I have posted, reports the same. There are two CCTV videos which captured the start of the shoot-out on the Internet

“I find interesting that it’s really difficult to google English items on the topic”

I don’t...

I’ve been following this since the Civil War began. Western Media (US especially) tends to be days to a week behind reporting major news from Ukraine, and often only does so after it’s cleared and spun by the Obamunists.

There are dozens of videos of this event, and the fighting, all over Youtube and Twitter.

It is important news to Russian and Eastern Euro media. To ours, not so much, unless Obama wants to make a point.

You know, I think right sector is pure neo nazi. But I draw the line at making fun of anyone’s nom de guerre. That’s just wrong.
And I’m betting:
A) it’s meant ironically, like when the biggest guy is called “tiny”.
B) you wouldn’t say that to his face.

Sorry, I misread your post.

Yes, it is difficult to find Western Media stories about Ukraine.

I bet they are way quicker in reporting the things which are favourable to Kyiv, such as something what can be interpreted as Russian intervention.

Twitter:

Head of SBU: Time is over, if Right Sector members don’t surrender, we are ready to detain them

Pravy Sektor’s requests:
Avakov has to resign
The policemen who opened fire in #Mukachevo have to be arrested

RT.com is way ahead of the western media on most stories.

Right Sector spokesman Andrey Sharaskin told Ukraine’s 112 channel that all of the organization’s fighters have left their positions in the country’s eastern Donetsk Region, where Kiev is conducting a military operation against rebels, and returned to their bases.

So Kiev was fighting their war against the eastern part of the country with Nazis and surprise! the Nazis aren't going to give up power in the west. So Kiev is fighting Nazis they depend on in the west and pro-Russia rebels in the east.

My gosh. Does ANYONE like the Kiev government, except the globalists who are feeding them billions of dollars?

You are very correct about the Western media’s reporting - or lack thereof - regarding the Ukraine crisis. It took the Washington Post two weeks to acknowledge the turnaround in the fighting in East Ukraine last summer!

You don’t necessarily have to agree with everything they say either, but for those interested in getting the “other side of the story,” apart from RT and Russian news agencies, Sputnik and ITAR-TASS, I recommend the following websites:

Russia Insider (sponsored by Western ex-pats living in Russia)

Fort Russ (translated articles from Russian media).

Vineyard of the Saker (blog by geopolitical analyst.

Bias by omission is even more prevalent in the West than bias by prevarication (though there is plenty of that too).

Fort Russ is interesting, though most of their stories link back to Sputnik or RT.

Not sure what I think about “Vineyard”, or “The Saker”. “The Saker” is a pseudonym for a supposed “top level” American military analyst who lives in Florida”, and most of the info seems to be translations from VK posts.

I heard explanation of Ukrainian expert that Right Sector groups were financed by businessmen to raid others businessmen or to defend own property. I heard names Kolomoysky, Levochkin, Akhmetov in that relation. Now Ukrainian economy is shrinking drastically, business has not enough money for mercenaries, they are forced to seek food themselves. Many thousands people acquired weapon including machineguns and grenade launchers and expertise in usage. Price of human life in Ukraine is low, so nothing sensational in that event. Law enforcing structures were destroyed during and after maidan, personnel demoralized, corruption skyrocketed.

If it continues in that way we'll soon see Ukrainians missing good ol' days of the Yanukovich's presidency...
