I remember the budget debates of 95. I was only 18 or 19, but I could see a pattern. Democrats knew the American people were stupid, but Republicans assumed the American people were smart. Democrats won. I’d say we’re much dumber now.

I don’t think most folks really want the answer to that. The Washington ( and many state) ruling class think most of us are about one or two steps below sheep in intelligence. Maybe a little smarter than an amoeba maybe.
