The competition among Republican presidential candidates for the support of the political and fundraising network of Charles and David Koch will heat up this weekend.

Five Republican candidates will attend a retreat held by Freedom Partners, a key cog in the political network of the Koch brothers. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Texas senator Ted Cruz, former CEO Carly Fiorina, Florida senator Marco Rubio and Wisconsin governor Scott Walker will all attend a gathering of well-heeled GOP donors at a luxury resort in Orange County, California. Kentucky senator Rand Paul was invited but declined to attend, citing previous commitments to campaign in Iowa.

This is EXACTLY why we need Trump for the first 8 years. He goes to NOBODY, hat in hand, hoping for a handout for his campaign. And you’d better believe the Koch brothers EXPECT something in return for their Million$.

Cruz’s father didn’t have a $300M dollar ($1.5 billion today) real estate portfolio to hand over to Ted.

Koch brothers are not even conservative, they are liberaltarians, who have no problem with amnesty, homosexual agenda ,and open borders.

They’re just the Paul supporters who pretend to be republican and conservative .

Agree. If I were Cruz, I wouldn’t go there. They have supported Walker in the past and may do so this time. It will be either Walker or Bush.

Agreed. BAAAADDDDDD move by Cruz. I will keep this in mind the next time I get a mailing from the campaign.

Agree with others, THIS is why we need Trump in there, I do not feel he can be bought off, and anyone who would try would probably have The Donald running to the press with “Guess who just tried to buy me, Donald Trump, off”

They don’t give a crap about constituency. To them it’s campaign cash that ensures their re-election, not listening to and acting on behalf of voters.

Trump-Cruz 2016

Until I see otherwise, that's the smartest ticket I see for us in the 2016 race.

I would dearly love to see Trump eviscerate fedzilla for eight years, followed by eight years of Cruz reshaping the government to fit the Framers' vision.

I think this country would be in better shape than any of us have ever seen it, should that transpire.

I really didn’t want to strike Cruz off from serious consideration...

Koch brothers support amnesty.
So does Cruz in the form of green cards and H1B visas.

His silence on the subject is deafening.

That's a given. Cruz supports legalization (amnesty) of the lawbreakers, just no path to citizenship.

Cruz Tries to Claim the Middle Ground on Immigration

Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.

“The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight,” he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Mr. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.

"Besides barring citizenship while instituting some level of legalization for those here already, Mr. Cruz has proposed increasing the number of green cards awarded annually, to 1.35 million from 675,000. He also wants to eliminate the per-country limit that he said left applicants from countries like Mexico, China and India hamstrung when they tried to gain legal entry to this country."

This is a response to your reply, as well as several other kind replies.

Regardless how it came about, Don took what he inherited and wisely parlayed, you say $300 million(?) into $10+Billion. Tomorrow I’ll send you the link to the NYT story of how Donald learned the ropes from his father Fred Christ Trump. How Don’s brother Freddie Jr. spurned his Dad’s “empire” and drank himself to death at 43.
Donald was so affected by what Freddie did that he’s never smoked, drank alcohol OR even coffee.

The Donald learned the business from his Dad, but he broke the mold when he announced that he was going to start doing real estate deals in Manhattan, where his father had never been brave enough to venture.

Finally, this may sound silly, but; Donald Trump’s turning his businesses over to his sons and daughter, and pledging himself to run for the presidency on his own money, and his being beholden to NOBODY BUT GOD....I consider it a literal Godsend. Because he is free to run the government subject only to the Costitution, and will never have to surrender his principles to ANYONE for fear of offending one or more wealthy donors.

That is precisely what it will take to bust up the Uniparty cabal in DC. And I cannot think of another soul in the Nation who has the chops, the energy, the toughness or the financial wherewithall to do what needs to be done without ever surrendering his principles to a financial contributor.
