Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, may have 'delivered favors' for friends, IG finds (grabbed tax dollars)

An IG probe uncovered evidence that Hillary aide, Huma Abedin, took advantage of her special State Dept employment status that involved potential conflicts of interest, and Abedin pocketing overpayments of tax dollars.

In a letter to Secy of State John Kerry, Sen. Chuck Grassley (Rep-Iowa), Senate Judiciary Committee chair, said an IG probe suggested Huma Abedin leveraged her State Department job to benefit her two other employers at the time: the Clinton Foundation and a consulting firm, Teneo Strategies founded by Doug Band longtime aide to Bill Clinton, which boasted the ex-president as a paid board member when launched in 2011.

The State Department's inspector general began looking into the issue of Abedin's SGE "special employment" designation in 2013, Grassley confirmed in a letter to Abedin.

"The Committee has learned of allegations that, during your simultaneous employment by the Department of State, Teneo, and the Clinton Foundation, you were solicited for and delivered favors for preferred individuals," Grassley wrote to Abedin.

Examples of the potential conflicts of interest cited by Sen Grassley include:

<><> Abedin allegedly sent or received more than 7,000 emails on her US government account that involved Teneo's Band, the letter said.

<><> one email exchange involved Teneo's Band pressuring Abedin to encourage her State Department boss, Hillary Clinton, to facilitate a White House appointment for one of his clients. Judith Rodin, then- president of the Rockefeller Foundation, "which donated hundreds of millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation," which Mr. Band allegedly noted in his email to Ms. Abedin.

<><> email evidence allegedly suggests that Ms. Abedin and another Hillary aide, Cheryl Mills, shared a desire to find a way to ensure the US govt paid for Ms. Abedin's travel to and from New York."

<><> a $33,000 payment Abedin received from the State Department for leave she hadn't used.

<><> multiple allegations received by the Judiciary Committee indicated Abedin had actually taken leave during her time as a government employee, casting doubt on whether Abedin should have received $33,000 in taxpayer money.

<><> allegations surfaced that the State Dept personnel rule was quietly bent to permit Abedin to collect her government paycheck while wielding her influence to the benefit of her other employers.

<><> Hillary Clinton jetted to Ireland with Abedin at her side for her last official trip before exiting the State Dept, during which Hillary attended an event hosted by a major Clinton Foundation donor that had been promoted by Teneo (for which Abedin then-served as a "consultant")

<><> Abedin's special employment status gave her heavy influence over Hillary Clinton's State Dept schedule and travel at the same time Abedin served as a senior adviser at Teneo, and performed other duties at the Clinton Foundation.

<><> Abedin was among several key aides to Hillary Clinton that hosted email accounts on a private server in the 2016 presidential candidate's Chappaqua, New York home, in violation of federal records laws.

Abedin worked as a full-time staffer to Hillary Clinton January 2009-June 2012; she was then given a "special government employee" designation and took on roles at the Clinton Foundation and Teneo.

That designation is designed to allow individuals who fill "an unmet government need for rare or unique expertise" to retain their private-sector positions while receiving compensation from the government.

Abedin is currently vice-chair of Hillary's presidential campaign committee.

Oddly, she was holding two ‘other’ jobs besides the gov’t job to Hillary. Normally, you’d have to report this and there’d be lots of questions over the legit nature of this arrangement. I also noted the timecard accusations, which will get you a review board, and at the very least....you will have to pay back what they think was wrongly claimed.

U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan issued an order late Friday afternoon ordering former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and two of her most intimate State Department aides, Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, to account for, under penalty of perjury, their use of Clinton’s ‘home-brew’ server kept at her Chappaqua, New York home during Clinton’s four-year tenure as secretary, as well as any official documents in their possession.

The order came in a FOIA lawsuit by Judicial Watch that was re-opened by Judge Sullivan in June after Clinton’s circumvention of the FOIA laws was revealed when news broke of her use of the private server.

Judicial Watch posted the text of the ruling:

(EDITED) “ As agreed by the parties at the July 31, 2015 status hearing, the Government shall produce a copy of the letters sent by the State Department to Mrs. Hillary Clinton, Ms. Huma Abedin and Ms. Cheryl Mills regarding the collection of government records in their possession.

“ These communications shall be posted on the docket forthwith. The Government has also agreed to share with Plaintiff’s counsel the responses sent by Mrs. Clinton, Ms. Abedin and Ms. Mills. These communications shall also be posted on the docket forthwith.

“ In addition, as related to Judicial Watch’s FOIA requests in this case, the Government is HEREBY ORDERED to:

(1) identify any and all servers, accounts, hard drives, or other devices currently in the possession or control of the State Department or otherwise that may contain responsive information;

(2) request that the above named individuals confirm, under penalty of perjury, that they have produced all responsive information that was or is in their possession as a result of their employment at the State Department. If all such information has not yet been produced, the Government shall request the above named individuals produce the information forthwith; and,

(3) request that the above named individuals describe, under penalty of perjury, the extent to which Ms. Abedin and Ms. Mills used Mrs. Clinton’s email server to conduct official government business.

“ The Government shall inform the Court of the status of its compliance with this Order no later than August 7, 2015, including any response received from Mrs. Clinton, Ms. Abedin and Ms. Mills. Signed by Judge Emmet G. Sullivan on July 31, 2015.”

Sen Grassley also inquired about Abedin's unusual employment status---whether US conflict-of-interest laws were violated when Hillary gave Abedin special employment status in which Abedin worked simultaneously for: (1) the State Department, (2) the Clinton Foundation, (3) as a private consultant, and, (4) consulting Teneo, a global financial firm w/ Bill Clinton a member of the board.

(SOURCE 6/11/15 NY POST) In 2011, longtime Clinton confidant, Doug Band joined the fledgling Teneo company ......and recruited Bill Clinton to be a member of the advisory board.

Teneo was promoted as a dual-track company with one side devoted to merchant and investment banking and the other side set up to provide image and strategy consulting services.

Teneo clients paid staggering monthly retainers — up to $250,000 and reportedly were "encouraged" to give to the Clinton Foundation. In turn, foundation donors were encouraged to use the services of Teneo.

Teneo Clients included Bank of America, Dow Chemical, UBS Wealth Management and Coca-Cola.

The idea for Teneo was to have Fortune 400 companies pay large monthly stipends in exchange for access to Band, Clinton and their massive international network.

The group would ‘consult’ with the companies, offer strategic advice and help them overcome issues in various countries across the globe,” David Halper wrote in “Clinton Inc.”

But a former Teneo employee told Halper that what the clients really got was nothing, other than an “implicit promise of access to Clinton.....and to his wife at the State Dept.

Clinton was the key to Teneo’s success. “The companies paid b/c they needed access to the ex-president,” a source told Halper. “It was he who Teneo was selling to their corporate clients.

Or, more precisely, it was their proximity to power — ex-President Clinton, and his wife, who was then secretary of state — and their Rolodexes, which were a natural extension of the work they had done over the years for the Clintons.”

In exchange for access, Bill Clinton was given a contract with Teneo worth $3.5 million, Halper said. It is unclear, however, how much Clinton was actually paid.
