Trump's Republican support holds strong post-debate - Reuters/Ipsos poll (Jeb loses 5 pts!)
Reuters ^ | 8/10/15 | Andy Sullivan

Donald Trump continued to defy the laws of political gravity on Monday as a Reuters/Ipsos poll found the real estate mogul holding onto a wide lead among Republicans in the U.S. presidential race despite an acerbic debate and a feud with a female television anchor that have bolstered charges of sexism.

Trump led the party's 17-strong 2016 presidential field with the backing of 24 percent of Republican voters, unchanged from before Thursday's televised debate.

His closest rival, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, trails at 12 percent, down from 17 percent before the debate.

How is Jeb ever going to win a primary? Oh, he might win an Open Primary where the Democrats can vote, but where else?

Reuter’s poll seems to be far more of a name-recognition contest than NBC’s. They’re claiming other candidates get drubbed by Clinton by margins “similar” to Trump’s 43-29. But that’s only 72% of the electorate! Clearly, they are allowing voters cool to Clinton to say they’d wait and find out more. Other polls show Clinton with 43% of the vote, but other major candidates with more than 43%.

Dull Jeb with no moral compass and not a clue how US citizens feel cannot gain support as long as Trump is on that stage.

With Trump in there, we're getting spoiled. We want a politician who's having fun while he campaigns, and speaks for himself.

The online poll of 278 self-identified Republicans has a credibility interval of 6.7 percentage points.

Yikes! Very small sample. Shaky methodology. Large margin. I really would like to see a few more polls.

.

the debate's silver lining is that the youtube video of the the two black women defending donald trump has gone viral ...

when was the last time that you saw anything like that ?

how about "never" ?

the fox debate's strategic result is that two (2) of Yeb's "flood the zone" candidates (Rand Paul and Marco Rubio) have been mortally wounded in the first debate ..

and ... def-con-one ... Ted Cruz is in second place ... way ahead of Yeb and John Kasisch ...

Merry Christmas, America !!!!!

Trump is the only one
1. that is not owned by big daddy donors
2. Stands up to the media and GOPe . The others would fold like a cheap suit
3.fights and won’t apologize.
4.The only one that made illegals an issue everyone is now talking about
5. The only one talking against China. the others owned by China
6. Is successful and will know how to deal with China and Mexico and not back down
7. Is successful in business so he’ll make the economy prosper
8 politicians are corrupt and have destroyed the USA
9. politicians have done nothing conservative only helped Obama pass obama trade(trojan horse for more immigration), Iran deal, highway deal etc.
10. The others are career politicians Trump isn’t

many more these are just some off the top of my head
Video shows why Obama and Hillary are scared of Trump rising in polls:

So will many others.

The interesting question is who are these 12% or so who support Bush?

They can’t all be corporate executives and K Street lobbyists.

Who are the grassroots supporters of Bush?

I would imagine they are largely older people who don’t follow the news(other than FOX) closely and mostly support Bush out of name recognition.

Anyone have any insight into who the rank and file supporters of Bush are?

I so hope Jeb loses enough supporters that he’ll be in the “second tier” for the next debate. That would be very humiliating for him..................might even make him drop out (we can hope)

The plan was never for Jeb to win primaries.
They know he could not possibly enough to win.

The plan was for this 17 man rugby scrum to deadlock and throw it to the convention, where Jeb could be nominated by insiders in a formerly smoke-filled back room.

He didn’t go down. But he didn’t go up. Does he already have all the supporters he’s going to get? I’d like to see a poll of Trump against “anybody” republican.

Maybe so, but the results mirror every other poll we've seen since the debate.

RE>Oh, he might win an Open Primary where the Democrats can vote

I think Trump would win an open primary hands down. He could win if he also ran on the Dems ticket. He could also win as a 3rd party. Trump has the ear of America even with the total liberal and conservative media out to destroy him.

I knew those ladies were going to become famous when I saw their first video a week ago. Even Rush played the audio of their post-debate video on his show today.
