The poverty that poor African Americans experience is often different from the poverty of poor whites. It's more isolating and concentrated. It extends out the door of a family's home and occupies the entire neighborhood around it, touching the streets, the schools, the grocery stores.
A poor black family, in short, is much more likely than a poor white one to live in a neighborhood where many other families are poor, too, creating what sociologists call the "double burden" of poverty. The difference is stark in most major metropolitan areas, according to recent data analyzed by Rutgers University's Paul Jargowsky in a new report for the Century Foundation.
In five-year American Community Survey data from 2009-2013, more than a third of all poor African Americans in metropolitan Chicago live in high-poverty census tracts (where the poverty rate is above 40 percent). That number has gotten worse since 2000. And it's about 10 times higher than for poor whites.

If life is so horrible in America, why don’t they just go back to their homeland?
Poor black people tend towards violent crime in their own neighborhoods while poor white people tend towards non-violent property crimes in their own neighborhoods.
The difference is that you still have some viable businesses in poor white neighborhoods and the government services are more likely to work in those neighborhoods since government workers are less likely to be murdered in those neighborhoods.
Moving violent blacks into white neighborhoods is just going to ruin decent neighborhoods for decent people of any race. Most decent black people refuse to live in poor black neighborhoods and who can blame them?
She has a point. Everyone knows that poor white folks all live in $200K houses in the suburbs.
Or in suburban areas. Liberals and progressives don't realize that public housing is one cause of porverty.
A lot of poor whites are rural. Almost all poor blacks are urban. It’s a preference, rural or urban, not bias. “Busing” didn’t work with schools, everybody hated it. It’s sure not going to work tampering with peoples’ living arrangements.

I live in an older neighborhood that is beginning to see lots of renters move in to houses around, most either black or latino. They throw trash on the streets while walking, and out the car windows while driving. Every week I pick up beer bottles, liquor bottles and junk food wrappers off my well kept yard, and since I live on a corner lot I have two streets to keep clean. It never was this way before they installed BASKETBALL GOALS in the park across the street. Now there are tennis shoes on the power lines all around the park, and we all know what that means.

The author is an urban blogster with a pedigree even the WP won’t herald in any specificity.
She doesn’t know what the hell poverty is, nor has she ever seen it outside of assignments she’s been stuck with.
I can bet you she hasn’t been up in the western valleys of West Virginia or Appalachia, or North Georgia, Southern Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi or anywhere outside of DC or thereabouts. She has no idea how poor white people live.
When one nurtures a spirit of poverty and blames their situation on everyone one else, then one’s situation never changes. A radical notion these days.
And though I don't condone it, it still beats the h3ll out of rioting and looting.

Do Blacks go out every day trying to work or looking for better jobs as much as the Asians, Whites and Hispanics do?
Do they stay out of trouble as well as others or not?
Are they likely to depend since the Johnson administration much more so on the free rides of over paying government jobs, social programs and such?
Before welfare (which kicked men out of the home) Blacks did not like Democrats who were the KKK. Democrats were also the ones who hosed them out of public schools.
Blacks used to be Republicans with an 88% intact mother father household, then Johnson bestowed welfare on them and it all went to sh!t.

Paraphrasing Johnson basically said he gave the n!gg@rs welfare and they will vote Democrat the next 200 years in return.
This has had it's toll on all of society, but especially in the Black families first.

America is their homeland, like it or not (them OR us). My forbearers several generations back came from Ireland and the Netherlands. Neither of those is MY homeland.
They should pay heed to folks like Muhammad Ali, who when asked how he liked Africa, said "Thank God my granddaddy got on that boat."
instead of blaming their own community for contributing to poverty, they blame the neightbourhood. Its probably why obama is so obsessed with moving blacks to white neighborhood because they figured this would make black richer
