Trump open to big campaign donors - "moral investment"
Washington Examiner ^ | August 23, 2015 | Sarah Westwood

Posted on 08/23/2015 10:58:24 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Although Donald Trump has suggested he would use his vast wealth to self-fund his campaign, freeing him from the control of special interests, the Republican frontrunner said Sunday he was open to major campaign donations.

"We have a lot of small contributors. I would even take big contributors, as long as they don't expect anything, because the only people that can expect something from me is going to be the people that want to see our country be great again," Trump said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"I actually like the idea of investing in a campaign, but it has to be no strings attached," the real estate mogul said. "I turned down $5 million last week from a very important lobbyist because there were total strings attached to it."

Trump attended a fundraiser for his Make America Great Again political action committee in July, according to a report by Politico.

Trump said the donors who gave to his PAC at the New York event were making a "moral investment" in his candidacy.

He has often criticized his Republican rivals — particularly Jeb Bush — for accepting large contributions from individuals or groups that might ask for favors down the road.

Trump will not get rich donors to contribute since Trump will not promise quid pro quo. Only his close friends, many of whom are mega rich, will donate without expecting command and control.

Trump will get Trump, because they know he will allow them to pillage the country. That was his m.o. in real estate.

Every time something a Trump critic is proven true, TrumpRINOs have an excuse. The emperor has no clothes.

There are plenty of people on FR who see the truth about Trump. A silent majority. Check out the threads last night.

I think of Reagan. It's better to be one man on the side of the Constitution, than a crowd going over the cliff. Besides, it won't be that long before everything is proven right.

Trump brought it up at his Mobile rally saying he may take their money, but don’t expect any favors.

I don’t care if you support Walker. You are still a great poster. But please explain the praying mantis.

The emperor has no clothes.

What's the matter? Another bad day? Jealous?

Trump is running for President of the United States, not emperor of anything!

As for clothes, he has plenty, and a helicopter, a Boeing 757 and BILLIONS of Dollars in Real Estate!!! I love his hats!

Carl Icahn will donate millions, but will not need any quid pro quo from Trump. Carl is his long time friend and has more money than in Fort Knox.

Trump sounds like Hillary passionately arguing with herself while trying to deceive herself.

"Deport Trump back to Scotland!"

Germany. His grandparents on his father's side came from Germany.
