WaPo Fails to Identify ‘Close’ Clinton Adviser Used in Ignatius Column to Clear Hillary in Email..

The Washington Post published a column Thursday night by David Ignatius that purports to clear leading Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton of wrongdoing in exclusively using a home brew server kept in her home that held top secret classified information during her four year tenure as secretary of state. The column is entitled The Hillary Clinton e-mail ‘scandal’ that isn’t.

Ignatius’ lead defense witness for Clinton is one Jeffrey Smith who is given four paragraphs of quotes defending Clinton. Ignatius identifies Smith as “a former CIA general counsel who’s now a partner at Arnold & Porter, where he often represents defendants suspected of misusing classified information.”

Smith is the only named source in Ignatius’ column.

Ignatius and The Post failed to disclose that Smith served as a ‘close’ national security adviser for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and that Smith has a history with the Clintons going back to at least President Bill Clinton’s election in 1992.

Round up the usual suspects. Note the loving attention this “newspaper” pays to protecting the Clintons as opposed to their wolf-like fangs dripping when Nixon was the target. One stench of an excuse for “journalism”.

This is ‘Ben Smithing’ at its best.

You take any issue that looks bad, call on some obscure and often phony ‘expert’ to assert you didn’t do anything wrong, and then say say “See, I’ve been cleared, and you’re just haterz”

“In 1992 and 1993, Mr. Smith served as the chief of the Clinton Transition Team at the US Department of Defense. He also chaired the Joint Security Commission established in 1993 by Secretary of Defense Les Aspin and CIA Director James Woolsey to examine the security procedures of the defense and intelligence communities and the companies that contract with them. In addition, he served on the congressionally mandated Commission on Roles and Missions of the Armed Services”

In those years I worked for an AF contractor supporting the NRO.and had all the compartmented clearances recently noted in an IG memo regarding Hillary emails.

We were dismayed as to the recommendations of the new Clinton team to reduce security controls. There was a woman in that administration, forget her name, whose name popped up in the 911 problems between CIA and FBI, I think.

What’s your point?

Somebody read about something online and then wrote about it.

Hardly a career path.

There’s been quite a few news articles and editorials in the last few days declaring that Clinton did nothing illegal and that the scandal is “overblown.” It seems like some of her many surrogates *within* the media are mounting a defense for her right now.

Maybe Democrats have just concluded that Biden isn’t cut out for President and Sanders’ atheism and socialism just haven’t caught up to him yet, so they have to stick with Clinton. If that’s the case, it reminds me of what Bill said on the Lewinsky scandal:

*** Morris says he took a poll on the voters’ willingness to forgive confessed adultery. He phoned back a few hours later to tell Clinton that voters would forgive adultery “but not perjury or obstruction of justice.” In other words, it was already too late. Morris testified that Clinton said, “Well, we just have to win then.” ***

Hardly a career path for you to be bad mouthing FReepers of whom promote this site, and give hat-tips to FResearchers.

I fail to see what your animosity contributes.

humblegunner. You are in over your head on this one. There is plenty of research done by freepers both publicly and in freepmail that you are not included in. Some is done for specific people others for release in media.
Maggie is one of the best researchers we have here.
