The USN probably doesn’t need to “track it” in the usual sense. This deployment is for show. All they need to do is fly a P-3 over the Russian ASW vessels ‘escorting’ this sub to know where it is.

I hope the US Navy is keeping track of it. But these days, I’m not so sure. What's so hard? Just follow the two ships Debka claims are escorting it and the sub will be in the area.
