Happily, I have not been exposed to much Spanish — yet.
I am confident that I could learn Spanish very quickly, if I applied myself. But I absolutely refuse to do so. I suppose they’ll force me to in the re-education camp.

i think they thought 30 years ago that the hispanics would be like every other immigrant ethnic group and their educational level would rise to the point where they got important jobs...but...still..didn’t speak english?

I’ve never understood how English is based on Germanic languages when NOT ONE WORD sounds like English but a lot of spanish and French and italian words do.
