It’s time to man up, Jeb.
The only way George W’s little bro can rescue his campaign from back-of-the-pack irrelevancy is to stand up to Donald Trump. And that has to happen at tonight’s GOP debate war at the Ronald Reagan Library.
Bush needs a Reaganesque performance. We’re talking a “tear down this wall” or “I’m paying for this microphone” kind of moment. Wearing a Reagan-Bush T-shirt won’t cut it.
The former Florida governor has got to show the 20 million-plus TV audience that he’s not just Trump’s punching bag. Voters want a commander in chief who will stand up to a bully, and the debate stage tonight is the playground.
Yes, Jeb has been more forceful defending himself against Trump’s taunts lately, but doing it from afar doesn’t count. You’ve got to stare down your nemesis and make him flinch.
This doesn’t mean Bush should try to out-Trump The Donald. Hurling insults will only play into Trump’s strategy of making the one-time front-runner look small.
Bush can’t shut Trump up — that’s impossible — but he can stun him enough to momentarily produce an uncomfortable silence.

We're not looking for a 'performance'. We're tired of Republicans who beat their chests about their conservatism during the campaign, then roll over and expose their soft underbellies after being elected. (Do I have to name names? Didn't think so...)
We're looking for Reganesque AUTHENTICITY.

What’s this author talking about? Bush is at what, 6%? He shouldn’t even be on the stage tonight unless we get Rick Perry and Linda Graham up there too. Bush’s candidacy is moribund.
