U.S. Senate Blocks Resolution to Defund Planned Parenthood
American Center for Law and Justice ^ | 2015-09-24 | Nathanael Bennett

Posted on 09/29/2015 5:55:09 AM PDT by WhiskeyX

Today, by a vote of 47-52, 52 U.S. Senators blocked a vote on a resolution that would have fully funded the government while redirecting hundreds of millions of dollars away from Planned Parenthood and to community health centers. Unfortunately, the 52 Senators who voted ‘no’ prevented the Senate from invoking cloture and overcoming a filibuster. As a result, Planned Parenthood is continuing to receive taxpayer dollars, and a government shutdown continues to loom.

Ironically, many of the same 52 Senators who are engaging in a filibuster today are loudly deriding the possibility of a government shutdown in less than a week. Again, the resolution that is being filibustered would fully fund the government, and 52 Senators are blocking it. Many of them are blocking it because of a political loyalty to an organization that has been caught harvesting and selling baby body parts.

Over the course of the next week, there will be a lot of finger-pointing about who is to blame for a looming government shutdown. Today’s vote would have prevented a government shutdown while also funding women’s healthcare rather than the harvesting and sale of baby body parts. Those 52 Senators who voted ‘no’ are listed below:

Sen. Kelly Ayotte Sen. Tammy Baldin Sen. Michael Bennet Sen. Richard Blumenthal Sen. Cory Booker Sen. Sherrod Brown Sen. Maria Cantwell Sen. Ben Cardin Sen. Thomas Carper Sen. Bob Casey Sen. Susan Collins Sen. Chris Coons Sen. Tom Cotton Sen. Joe Donnelly Sen. Richard Durbin Sen. Dianne Feinstein Sen. Al Franken Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand Sen. Martin Heinrich Sen. Heidi Heitkamp Sen. Dean Heller Sen. Mazie Hirono Sen. Tim Kaine Sen. Angus King Sen. Mark Kirk Sen. Amy Klobuchar Sen. Patrick Leahy Sen. Ed Markey Sen. Claire McCaskill Sen. Robert Menendez Sen. Jeff Merkley Sen. Barbara Mikulski Sen. Lisa Murkowski Sen. Christopher Murphy Sen. Patty Murray Sen. Bill Nelson Sen. Rand Paul Sen. Gary Peters Sen. Jack Reed Sen. Harry Reid Sen. Bernie Sanders Sen. Ben Sasse Sen. Brian Schatz Sen. Charles Schumer Sen. Jeanne Shaheen Sen. Debbie Stabenow Sen. Jon Tester Sen. Tom Udall Sen. Mark Warner Sen. Elizabeth Warren Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse Sen. Ron Wyden

And this is why unless I know her personally and know her to be strongly pro-life, I never vote for a woman. And I are one.

The time has come and gone for this stupid filibuster rule to go. They can still “deliberate” without this rule.

I’m surprised to see Cotton, Paul, and Sasse on the list.

I wish the McConnell had decided to continue Dirty Harry’s simple majority vote rule and stuck it in his and the president’s face. I was and continue to be for that.

Just curious....but why don’t a couple of the states just write a 3-line text law that says transportation across any state-line of any body parts...requires confirmation of next of kin, and a notice sent by email or fax to the state attorney general as each episode occurs. Failure to have either the notice or the notification of next of kin of the transport....should result in one year of state prison as a minimum.

At that point, you actually start putting the middle-guy in this whole economic game into a hefty threat of prison time. Congress can vote all the money they want....but the middle-guy is fearful of prison time...what good will the funding do as it just sits there and no one wants to play the game?

Ayotte and Collins always vote with the Dummies, possibly because they ARE
Dummies in disguise.

as I see it......

the law would be ineffectual because no aborted body parts are transported

in legal speak there is or was no body. there was a fetus.

the material in question is not body parts but rather “fetal tissue”. the law permits interstate movement of fetal tissue

to be effective, there must be a court ruling that fetal tissue is actually body parts

congress could clarify the issue with a law, but it would never pass the Senate and if by some miracle it did, Obama would veto it.Obama

There must be a revolution in the Senate Rules for the black plague of liberalism to be rescinded

Oh I would even allow this to go federal...I’d just let it occur in twenty-five states...individually, and just AG’s of each state go after these guys. The feds won’t be able to say much unless there’s a law to support body parts or fetus parts or whatever. Trust me....no one in the Senate or house will vote one way or another. So you just twist this to be a state by state issue. Just transporting through a state (in some container)....would get you time in jail unless you behaved by the state’s laws.

It’s like the old stupid law of transporting an underage adult across statelines. But it got used an awful lot, and I think you could do the same trick here.

Make no mistake, many of the 47 that voted yes would have voted No if the establishment needed them to. They knew their asses were covered.

My senator Bob Graham is probably one of those.

Ayotte is a maor disappointment to those of us in New Hampshire who supported her.

She is John Mccain and Linda Graham’s pet poodle and an out-o-the-closet liberal.
