An Army veteran who made it through a combat deployment without sustaining any serious injuries was shot several times as he rushed toward a gunman who was opening fire at a community college in Oregon.

Chris Mintz, 30, was in his first week of class at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, on Thursday when 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer walked into Snyder Hall, where classes are held, and started shooting.

Mintz reportedly "trie[d] to block the door to keep the gunman from coming in," Mintz's aunt, Wanda Mintz, told Q13 Fox News in Oregon.

Cities with the strictest gun control laws have the highest rates of crime. Why is that Obama?

Gun control really means people control by the state. Obama and his fellow Marxists want a disarmed sheeple that can be slaughtered or imprisoned on a whim.

“Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon”

Fox just reported that the college is a “gun free zone” that the security could not carry a firearm but did have a can of mace! Nice going Umpqua for your idiotic rules,, the blood of these victims is not only on the POS shooter but also on the college administration.

Chris Mintz should get the Congressional Medal of Honor, IMHO. He is more worthy of the Pulitzer Peace Prize than Zero, Yawn Kerry, etc. Our gummint sucks.

It’s amazing to me that the people of this country don’t grasp the simple irony that their President wants to take away their guns but just gave the Iranians nukes. It’s a bat$hit crazy world we live in and I hope the country wakes itself up soon.

Had the college been an open carry campus this killing spree could have been averted.

That lying jug-eared SOB actually said yesterday that the exact opposite is true—that areas with more gun control have less gun crime.

And Bill OReilly pointed out that since 2012 there have been 6,000 shootings and 1,700 gun deaths in Chicago which has very strict gun laws- which are not enforced

Thank heaven there are lots of people like Mr. Mintz around.

(They survived for a reason, to teach us about courage, loyalty and other things.)

IMHO

I hope he will be ok. Whether in uniform or not, veterans are always our heroes.

And deserve to be treated better!

Just think how much worse things would have been, if we’d allowed him to carry a gun...

Heres the bottom line: all the gun laws on the books didnt prevent the murderer from doing his business. You can restrict as much as you will but those restrictions will NEVER stop a motivated killer.

Chris Mintz should get the Congressional Medal of Honor
I disagree. But if he's still in the reserves, I'd think he'd a good candidate for the Soldier's Medal:
The distinguishing criterion for awarding the Soldier's Medal, per Army Regulation 600-8-22, para 3-13, is "The performance must have involved personal hazard or danger and the voluntary risk of life under conditions not involving conflict with an armed enemy. Awards will not be made solely on the basis of having saved a life."[3] It is the highest honor a soldier can receive for an act of valor in a non-combat situation, held to be equal to or greater than the level which would have justified an award of the Distinguished Flying Cross had the act occurred in combat.

+1 and amen!

I would like to THINK I would have the stones to do what he did — but no one knows until that moment comes.

Bless Chris Mintz!

Well, the Leftists then say, that is because there is no gun control in redneck states like Alabama (my state) where any slack-jawed local can get a gun. Then those guns are brought to Chicago and distributed to thugs in gangs. Which means that every state in the USA needs to ban guns. Leftists have told me all the shooting deaths in the ghettos by black gangsters is the fault of us white gun rights advocates in the red states.

I then point out there are hundreds of millions of guns in the USA, and if every state banned them, the thugs would not be the ones giving them up, and the law abiders would be much more vulnerable.

Then I’m told well, that would be better, so we could be more like Europe.
