Father of Oregon Killer Blames GUNS, Not Son, For Umpqua Massacre [VIDEO]
The Right Scoop ^ | 10/3/15 | Caleb Howe

"I'm not trying to say that they're to blame for what happened. But if Chris had not been able to get hold of 13 guns it wouldn't have happened." CNN just interviewed the father of the murderer of nine people at Umpqua Community College this week, and though he claims he is not blaming guns, he spent most of the interview doing that exact thing.

"That's what guns are. The killers. It's as simple as that. It's black and white," he says. Guns are the killers. Not his son.

Sometimes video makes things sound less dumb than they look when written. This is not one of those times.

What if your son had gotten hold of a pressure cooker and made a bomb out of it......is the pressure cooker at fault or your son??

It is dumb either way. The son could just have learned to make bombs. Would that be better? Or torched the school. Or poisoned the food in the cafeteria. Murderers murder.

How would he know? He himself admitted he had no roll in his son’s life.

He’ll be made into another spokesperson for the Left’s continuing anti-2nd Amendment agenda, just like the father of that lovely female Virginia TV reporter who was gunned down along with her photographer.

Umm...knives, axes, swords, etc. can be used to kill someone. I guess this dad is in favor of “common sense laws” to keep all those items out of the hands of people like his son.

I hate guns that ask me about my religion before they shoot me. Just so annoying.

A failure of a parent speaks out. He probably taught his son discipline through time-outs and useless discussions.

My late wife took her life with a gun. It was her choice, not the gun’s. I blame her sickness and not the weapon. People like this Ian Mercer sicken me because they cannot see to place the blame to where it belongs. Mercer is a coward as was his son because neither one can stand the truth.

We have a society with killers in our midst. Outlaw guns and we still have killers in our midst they just choose a different weapon. It is insanity to focus on the wrong problem expecting an effective result.

Who will be the next victim of a gun
attaching itself to the hand of an innocent
and unsuspecting human?

When we were young in rural Texas, we brought our guns to school and kept them in our lockers so we could hunt right after school. Our guns were very well behaved, and no one ever was shot.

Of course, we had parents who took us to church every Sunday, read the Bible to us daily in our family devotions, and taught us to love our neighbor as we loved ourselves. That sound foundation lasts through eternity.

I’m still trying to get to the truth about the shooter’s political affiliation, if any. CNN claimed he was a “conservative Republican,” supposedly based on something he said on a website. Others have claimed he’s a registered Independent, others that he’s a registered Democrat. Some claim that the “conservative Republican” claim was actually from a hacker.

You never know when a gun is just going to jump up and start shooting.
