Ellmers thanks lawmakers for 'prayers' amid affair rumors (Amnesty Pimp Renee denies affair)

Rep. Renee Ellmers stood up in a private meeting of Republican lawmakers on Friday and thanked them for their "prayers and support" after they received “nasty emails” accusing her of having an extramarital affair with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, according to multiple sources in the room.

She did not mention McCarthy (R-Calif.) by name, detail the content of the emails or provide any other information.

Sources close to Ellmers and McCarthy say the accusation is unfounded, and assert that it is being spread by a discredited troublemaker. McCarthy has publicly denied that any personal problems were behind his stunning decision to withdraw from the speaker's race on Thursday.

Ellmers was referring to emails sent to dozens of Republican lawmakers recently by Steve Baer, a Chicago-based GOP donor, claiming the two Republican lawmakers were engaged in a romantic relationship. Ellmers' attorney also sent a "cease and desist" letter this week to GotNews.com, a website that alleged early in 2015 the two were having a longstanding affair. This all came as McCarthy was running for speaker.

Rumors of a romantic relationship between McCarthy and Ellmers have been swirling in Republican circles for years.

Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina was one of 10 Republicans who voted with Democrats on Wednesday against legislation that would roll back President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

She also was one of 26 Republicans who voted against an amendment that would eliminate the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, which has granted work permits and stopped deportation of 600,000 immigrants who arrived illegally as children.

Sounds like the representative from North Carolina may have uttered the phrase “Oh, God” a few times herself.

Hopefully Republicans don’t start chasing bright shiny things and car bumpers gain. Focus, people, focus. The goal here is to put together a coalition that can elect a speaker, raise funds, get elected...and do so on a conservative platform.

Getting McCarthy to side step is a good thing. Now, show us that someone, somewhere had a plan for governing and that we don’t have 200+ radio talk show host wannabees.

I have two comments.

The first is about the media. Why is it so “stunning” that he dropped out? Believable or not, he gave his reason and it wasn’t that stunning.

The second is about the alleged affair. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Maybe she sticks like Ellmers glue.

Ellmers is a despicable, duplicitous creature who won her office by posing as a Tea Party conservative but, once she arrived in Washington, PROMPTLY sold out to the Chamber of Commerce and became an Amnesty/Open Borders/Cheap Labor pimp.

I do hope she and her attorney are stupid enough to sue GotNews.com so the discovery process can begin to lay bare the travel expense records and other information regarding the McCarthy/Ellmers relationship.

When buzz has been circling your workplace about two of your colleagues having a romance FOR YEARS, it has rarely turned out to not be true in my experience.

No doubt she is convinced that her surgeon hubby is about to dump her after this.

McCarthy is an Amnesty Pimp, too. Good riddance to both of them.

Be interesting to see where this goes. They sure traveled together an awful lot and that alone would gets tongues a-waggin.

The fact that Got News is sticking with it even with cease and desist letter from Ellmers lawyer and the NY Post and Political are also discussing has got me thinking that there is a fire there.

The “asking for prayers” part is what seals it for me...its got the old Swaggert and Baker feel to it.

Any prayers were probably along the lines of "Please God don't let it be true."

She lied to get elected first. I was stupid enough to believe her...she quickly became a traitor to those of us who sent money to her so-called Tea Party effort. She is disgusting!

You have been keeping track of her on immigration. I couldn't help but recall that she put together the small group that scuttled the 20 week abortion bill, after running as a pro-lifer. Carolina can do better than that.

“What is the matter with voters in the Carolinas??? Linda Graham in SC, and Elmers in NC are not shining moments for voters’ judgment.”

Can’t speak for SC but NC went from stalwart conservatives like Jesse Helms to worthless GOPe garbage in twenty-five years. Why? Too many Yankees, Black and White, have relocated here. Asheville and the Triangle are as liberal as Silicon Valley with Charlotte not far behind. Also there is still a strong Democrat Party legacy in the South whose growth paces the rapidly increasing liberal-left demographic of the young, minority, and immigrant population.

In the near future NC will go Blue permanently. Once Texas goes Blue(this is the objective of “Open Borders” folks) the American Republic will be a distant memory.
