The current frontrunner for the nomination, who got where he is by demanding that the border be closed to Mexican rapists and that all illegals who are already here be deported, is okay with Luis Gutierrez’s friend running the House? Huh. What makes this doubly weird is that Trump has attacked Ryan in the past for trying to lead on entitlement reform, especially Medicare reform, instead of insisting that Obama do it.
Normally I’d chalk it up to a would-be president not wanting to get on the wrong side of a would-be Speaker whom he might have to work with, but c’mon. The whole appeal of Trump for many of his fans is that he wouldn’t work with Congress at all. He’d either force them to do his bidding somehow — don’t ask me how — or he’d ignore them a la Obama and do a little “beneficial” executive overreaching. In which case, what does he stand to lose by criticizing Ryan?
Prediction: This’ll play out the same way Trump’s reversal on Syrian refugees will. Initially he said the U.S. had no choice but to accept some refugees on humanitarian grounds. Soon after it apparently came to his attention that that view was not, shall we say, in touch with the conservative mood and so he reversed himself. Give him a few days to brush up on the conservative case against Ryan. We’ll see whether he still feels this way on Monday.
The Horse is dead already..
Put down the whip and take a breath...
Why post out of context posts, from well known anti-Trumper, Allahpundit? Even majority of Hot Air posters make fun of Allahpundit for being so transparent.
Thanks, I suspected as much...
Like a suicide bomber...
Oh, bad answer there Donald. We not only do not want Ryan as speaker we don’t even want him in Congress anymore. He’s become a GOPe stooge.
Trump will back out of this Monday. Trust me.
Ryan drank the RINO Kool-Aid some time ago. Had many of us fooled before then, just like Boehner, McCarthy, and so on..
It isn’t like Trump has any say so over who is or isn’t chosen SOH anyway - none of us do. I’d prefer someone like Jim Jordin, but he doesn’t seem interested - so we are probably going to be stuck with someone like Paul Ryan - ugh!
I don’t think Trump is too crazy about Ryan, from listening to what Trump actually said, in the interview. Allahpundit is a RINO smear machine, who cannot stand Trump.

Trump’s point of view... He’d be OK... It is because he thinks Ryan’s odds are better than 50-50, and he will have to work with him. Plus as the GOP nominee, Speaker Ryan will be obliged to campaign, and WI 10 EVs are helpful. I’d be OK sounds more polite than a ringing endorsement.
I doubt it. If think he's too smart to wade into this whirpool. He has nothing to gain by poo-pooing any potential Speaker. It was a sensible comment.
“Thisll play out the same way Trumps reversal on Syrian refugees will.”
Out of context. Trump was “OK” with the initial 2-3,000 ... Then The Musloid Sodomite & Chief went full tilt, raising the anti until it was 200,000 of his fellow jihadists ... Trump dumped the humanitarian angle long before the number got that high ... So this “author” is full of crap.
We not only do not want Ryan as speaker we dont even want him in Congress anymore.
You sound as if we had anything to say about it, we don't.
There are 200 GOPe House members that are firmly in Boehner's camp and they will have a say in the next speaker and they do not want a conservative. We are in deeper doo doo. than most want to accept but accept or not you still get messy shoes when you step in doo doo.
And when Dickerson asked whether he'd be okay with Ryan as speaker, Trump replied, "I would be okay."
Still, Trump cautioned, "It may not be him. I mean, they have a couple of people in there, I'm not going to mention names. But people I know that are really tough and really smart. And right now, that's what we need because the Republicans never win. John, they never win. Everything, whether it's on Obamacare, whether it's on the debt ceiling, no matter what we have, there's never, ever a victory. So we need a toughness and we just don't have there right now."
What about Rep. Daniel Webster? The House Freedom Caucus has endorsed him.
