Can’t manage an original response?

If you want to ignore Trump’s history, that’s your thing. Don’t be surprised when others don’t follow suit.

Have you changed your mind about anything? It’s never right to visit people at an address they don’t live at anymore.

Well, in July Trump told “Morning Joe” he was a Democrat in a lot of ways.

That’s a pretty recent move, wouldn’t you say?

I don’t know how to make it any clearer to you. No Trump for me.

Yes. Trump said it.

The day after I heard him say that, I called Cruz’ office and informed his chicklet answering the phone that we’re not playing by the Marquis of Queensbury rules now, so he had better start getting those fancy boots he wears dirty and be prepared to fight-cuz if he doesn’t fight, he will lose.

Found it, in context, it’s not what’s being alleged;

Donald Trump, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, said Friday he sometimes identifies more as a Democrat when pressed to explain previous statements that the economy generally does better under Democrats than Republicans.

“I identify with some things as a Democrat,” Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when pressed about the comments from 2004, adding that “generally speaking” he was “never a Bush fan.”

“When the economy crashed so horribly under George Bush because of mistakes they made having to do with banking and lots of other things, I don’t think the Democrats would have done that,” Trump said.

“Now, I see it both ways, but I hated what I was watching in the last two years of George Bush, because it was a bubble that was waiting to explode,” he added. “What they were doing was a death wish, and I saw that.”

“I have seen things done by Republicans that are not good and are not smart, and I would not do that,” he said.”

Yes, if not the full interview, I try to watch a bit of each interview. I have already seen parts of his rallies, including that one down south where they had 20,000+ people in attendance. I think they were sold out. I will happily concede that for a politician, he is a dynamic and charismatic speaker. He was a successful entertainer on his own TV shows, why shouldn’t he be?

But he is a liar and I think he’s lying about being a conservative. At 65 years of age, a leopard doesn’t change his spots.

Rare are such late life conversiins, and they usually, in those rare cases, are due to a religious conversion. As he doesn’t claim that, and actually seems hostile to the idea that he might need God’s forgiveness, that seems extremely unlikely, too. As well, someone who had a religious conversion wouldn’t lie about his fellow Republican candidates. That is morally extremely low.

So, my initial judgment stands: he is a liar.

Ok. I see two things here. I see he says Bush and the Republicans did things that are not good, not smart. That is a separate statement from “I identify with some things as a Democrat”...and he doesn’t think the Dems would have done that.

So. I certainly agree with the first part of his statement. HOWEVER, he not only does NOT hold the Dems equally or even partially responsible, he oddly says he doesnt think they would have done that. He is possibily unaware of the shared responsibility the Dems have??

I guess before I could support Trump I’d like to know in what ways, in what areas does he identify with because these statements do not help clarify issues or character or principles.

“I think he’s lying about being a conservative”

There’s honesty. “I think”

“he is a liar” cannot be stated as if it is absolute objective truth.

BTW Reagan switched, he used to be a full blown democrat.

We are seeing a very strange phenomenon at work. People like Bill Clinton, Hillary and Obama have a reputation for lying. They are known to engage in falsehoods, and this is documented.

People who know Trump well and have worked with him, etc., give him very high marks for integrity. He has NOT earned the reputation of a liar. Yet we see many, many instances of people lying about Trump, and also people labelling him a liar sans the usual type of evidence/reputation that warrants such a charge.

It’s difficult to explain the exact dynamic at work. By all appearances, it is simply outright hatred of Trump. I wonder if class envy plays a part?

I don’t think the Democrats would have done that,” Trump said. “Now, I see it both ways,” etc.

So he does not see the democrats as not as responsible republicans - he sees it “both ways”.

With the repeal of the ACA he’s said he would have a government single payer HC for people under a certain threshold. That is considered to be a democrat ideal. (We are paying for them anyway.) We will see the details about repealing/replacing the ACA in a position paper.
