How large are the crowds Carson is drawing compared to Trumps? Why is Carson doing so well in the polling of late?

Carson loves gun control.

There are many other problems with him, too.

I don’t know too many evangelicals who wouldn’t have a Mormon.

I know quite a few who wouldn’t have socialized medecine, gay men as scout leaders, fundraisers for Planned Parenthood, and homosexual marriage. Since every one of those were Mitt Romneycare causes during his term as Massachusetts Governor he didn’t get their vote.

His religion had zero to do with it.

The only thing Ben Carson's missing is a 999 plan.

It almost like the Catholic faith is in their DNA, especially the Irish :-) I know they have all kinds; it's interesting and funny at times. But you are right, religion isn't DNA but seems to come harder to some than others. And a lot of Catholics have left the church but it still seems a part of them.

Except for Maryland and the South, Catholics tended to come in later waves, and some weren't treated very well. I can tell they (some) still carry the bitterness of it, my Irish acquaintance, for a few generations. Some are reticent to talk about it.

You have agonized over the country then. It does seem lost. Faith in God is our only hope. Sometimes I'm sorry I became disillusioned and lapsed. Then I think maybe I should try to go back. It was hard having been raised a Protestant, also divorced many years. I didn't feel like I fit in. I did make several nice friends but most of them have died.

I'm beginning to think all of Western Civilization is lost because it surely seems like it is too late except for faith in God. I didn't know what to make of this pope, was starting to think negatively but not say anything. Then today when I read how well worn his bible was and how he encouraged young people to read their bibles, not let the dust accumulate, and study in groups, it was SO refreshing.

I doubt a lot of young people even have a bible or care to read it.

Some of the perpetrators of t h at lie also don’t think Catholics are Christian. trump, the non-practicing mainline Protestant has little room to talk.

You know what I see? I see Yeb down in the bottom feeder range, I see him not building up steam like he promised his backers, and I see Romney’s ground forces not really pushing through any GOPe into contention.

Trump, Carson? Just so long as the GOPe doesn’t win Iowa (or any) contest.

This country is in trouble. The Catholic church is in trouble. It has serious issues to contend with.

As a second generation Italian, I know we were abused by everybody, lol, even the Irish. And the blacks were mad at us for taking work from them in some places!

That’s the way it is for any new group.

The tenseness between Irish and Italians is pretty much gone on anyone under 40.

I’m 47 lol. I took an Irish gal on a date and she didn’t know i was Italian because I’m blond/blue and she told me Staten Island was a nice place before the WOPS came over, lol.

Christians of all denominations have to stick together because our enemies are many and our friends few, especially with this nut in office.

I thought it was a concern about his religion. It wasn't an issue with me, but I do find myself wondering how intelligent people can believe some of it.

I wasn't wildly enthusiastic about Mitt but did vote for him. I can't relate to the Mormon lifestyle very well even though they are mostly good people. His politics weren't that impressive. Another RINO but I tried to believe he had become pro life. I can't really relate to wealthy people like Trump either, maybe more his lifestyle than the wealth.

I'm going to have to put some of my feelings aside because this time and the state of the union, the alternate is disaster. If only she hadn't messed up just about everything she has tackled.

Incidentally, Salon is left wing as you get, but sometimes there are things of interest to me (expose about Jeff Epstein), maybe it was Vanity Fair. Today I skimmed over a Salon article about Benghazi. It was as one would expect, very critical of Republicans, but said they missed the bigger picture. They went into great detail about how we screwed up Libya.

If Catholics aren’t Christian I’m in a lot of trouble :)

But my allegiance is to Christ before any man, no matter what position he holds.

You sure got that right. I couldn't believe how Muslims get legal preference over their beliefs, but we Christian believers get persecuted over ours. I thought America would be safe for Christians. Now after the last 8 years (and before), it is doubtful.

It seems like the libs, I don't know if they consider themselves Christian, the Catholic pols do; Hillary says she likes her Methodism, etc. The liberals hate most of us conservative Christians (read those who won't give into traditional understanding of sins), they will side with the Muslims against us.

Many of them have degrees of separation, unlike us regular people, but maybe they had better not get too cocky about it.

I can’t vote for someone who says he advised Bush against using the military against Al Qaeda after 9/11. He wanted to keep negotiating with the Taliban instead. Not Commander in Chief material.

You’re not Jewish if you dont follow the Ten Commandments. You are not Christian if you dont follow the Ten Commandments AND Christ’s word. Catholic or any other group.

There’s no in between.

I should say “Try” to follow. We are fallible as humans.

By contrast, many of the sick things muslims do MAKE them muslims.

who the @#$@#$ saw Carson coming? Popular with women and Evangelicals.

Carson seems to drop a bombshell every day which really makes me wonder how he is polling so high anywhere.

Illegals should stay and work on farms.

I'd get rid of Medicare and replace it with Medical Savings Accounts.

I went after my mother with a hammer.

I believe we are living in the end times.

Everyone should pay a flat rate income tax 10-15%.

The above are all things that Carson has said lately which seem to be deal breakers, at least to me.

And before anyone jumps on me about the "end times" comment, I have no problem with a pastor believing this but I don't want a President who thinks this way.

The work on farms and hammer part made me laugh out loud :)

the end days thing scares me a little because he also said on FOX several times that he didn’t want to run but if the country needed him to, he would.

Doctors sometimes have God complexes, one who believes in end times also, shouldn’t be in charge of a leading nuclear armed nation probably.

My family is Catholic and my sister believes in the end days, but I had read that many scholars believe Revelations actually applied to the time of the Apostles.

All that matters is Christ said he would come like a thief in the night. but what do i know.

So you're privy to Trumps personal life but what did he say exactly?
